From initial planning to finishing the shoot, a lot of thought went into this blue-and-white gradient dress for Cheshire. In terms of costume design, layers upon layers of ruffles on the chest and skirt, combined with translucent tulle fabric, create a visually light and fluffy texture. Furthermore, the off-shoulder corset design paired with a dramatic backless feature preserves a touch of dignity from the front while accentuating graceful contours when turning or standing at a half-profile.
For this shoot, we chose an indoor convention hall setting, utilizing the venue's industrial-style background paired with a high bar stool. Dark walls and floor reflections happened to refract the sequin and fine glitter details on the outfit, allowing the subject to pop effortlessly within the frame. I held the hat in my hand for pose interactions during this session, and the matching ruffled parasol served as a finishing touch—altogether evoking a British afternoon tea or fairytale ambiance that fits the elegant demeanor of a research vessel.
In truth, shooting an elaborate Anime cosplay outfit in convention environments or during a TFP photoshoot is quite challenging. First is securing the large hat and wig; since the headpiece is substantial, one must constantly check if it's tilting. Second is the multi-layered tulle skirt, which is easy to step on while walking, demanding extra care when managing standing and sitting postures. Fortunately, the photographer spotted a remarkably clean backdrop inside the venue without distracting background clutter, and using the high bar stool provided a solid center of gravity anchor, resulting in a clean and comfortable composition.
The look-back picture is one of my personal favorite angles; it truly tests the back details of the garment, where the open back combined with cascading ribbons presents a classical aesthetic under contoured lighting. Combining a sun parasol with long flowing ribbons produces fantastic pictures; during dynamic snapshots, the ribbons and skirt hem flutter naturally with movement, infusing vitality into the frame. As a Royal Navy research heavy cruiser, I hope this styling allows everyone to feel Cheshire's elegance and unique charm. Cooperating with the photographer was a true delight; timely communication during the shoot enabled us to lock down these fantastic angles despite venue constraints. Organizing these Convention photos brings back memories of managing various unexpected situations on set.
