This blue and white color scheme look shared this time took a lot of thought from the initial selection to the post-processing matching. The costume features a patchwork of lightweight tulle and organza with fine shimmers in the inner layer, reflecting a wonderful sense of transparency under strong light. The layers of the skirt hem also underwent many adjustments to achieve a satisfying fluffiness. Regarding props, that blue transparent sphere is actually a hand-modified glowing ball. To echo the jellyfish illusion elements in the frame, a polarized film was specially added. The wig features a two-tone gradient treatment, and the hair ornaments on top were all glued together by myself bit by bit, avoiding a plastic look on camera.
During the shoot, a clean studio environment was chosen. The background scene was built using white Roman pillars and clusters of blue hydrangeas in varying shades. The floor was covered with blue-purple translucent tulle, which, combined with the studio lighting setup and high-power flashes on-site creating cool-toned highlights, successfully maintained a clear and transparent feel for the overall color temperature of the frame. The focus of post-processing was mainly on softening the skin and enhancing the layers of the highlight areas, avoiding overexposure that could lose details, while preserving the rim lighting on the tulle edges.
Whenever cosplaying a look with such a strong 2D character setting, I pay special attention to the fit of the makeup and wig, because the face shape and facial proportions must withstand close-up shots at specific angles. This time, I also brought a small dolphin plush as an interactive prop, letting it appear at the edge of the perspective to enrich the narrative without stealing the main visual focus. Going through the entire process, it took nearly an hour from arranging the wig to adjusting the skirt hem, but seeing the final result makes it all very worth it. Next, I will continue to study different styles of light and shadow techniques, allowing every cosplay work to achieve a new breakthrough in texture.
