It has been a while since I finished shooting Unicorn's Stage outfit, and today I finally organized the Convention photos sent by photographer Youchang Jiaqi. This set was shot on-location at the COC Ranmeng Co-creation Convention. The lighting at the venue was great, so we seized the opportunity to take a set of photos. The overall white Stage outfit paired with a purple-and-blue gradient wig yielded fantastic shots next to the bright floor-to-ceiling windows of the exhibition hall. Compared to heavier, solid-color character designs, this pure white tulle look really tests lighting control; thankfully, the soft ambient light falling on the garment beautifully preserved the layered texture of the transparent tulle.
This costume features incredible detail. The white off-the-shoulder top with a ruffled bow at the neckline gracefully accentuates the neck line while conveying a sense of airy innocence. The arms feature detached sheer tulle sleeves adorned with 3D purple flower decorations, creating wonderful depth and fluttering gracefully with movement. The sleeve material is quite sheer, reflecting an appealing cool-toned luster under the convention lighting. The skirt hem has an asymmetrical ruffled design—short in the front and longer in the back—which not only facilitates walking but also enhances the visual lightness and ethereal feel. The silver microphone in my hand was specially tied with a matching white bow ribbon, echoing the Stage outfit theme seamlessly and drawing focus toward the idol stage silhouette.
In terms of makeup and hair details, to restore the character's dreamy feel, I chose a luminous base makeup. The eyeshadow blended soft lotus pink and pale purple hues paired with subtle tightlining, making the eyes look brighter and softer while balancing the cold tone of the pale purple wig. The wig was meticulously styled in the dressing room beforehand, featuring a light purple-blue gradient, thick natural straight bangs at the top, and purple bow accessories fixing the sides. The hair accessories also featured star-shaped prints with small horn accents, making them compact and exquisite. During the shoot, special attention had to be paid to hair volume and strand direction; because the wig material is soft, wind or movement could easily cause tangles without constant adjustments.
The convention venue was quite cluttered with heavy foot traffic, but thanks to photographer Youchang Jiaqi's quick capture and composition skills, a wide aperture was used masterfully to blur the background, making the subject pop while avoiding passerby distractions. We experimented with various angles including standing, half-body, and seated postures—such as a close-up holding the microphone with a slight head tilt, or subtly bending one leg to highlight the skirt hem and leg straps. The white crisscross straps on the shoes, accented with small bows, visually elongated the legs, serving as another highlight of this look. Our primary focus during shooting was to elongate the silhouette, giving this miniskirt Stage outfit greater visual dynamic tension.
Since the overall vibe of this Stage outfit leans soft and ethereal, I kept my movements gentle and natural to avoid disrupting the garment's lightness. While shooting, I aimed to maintain Unicorn's well-behaved, gentle demeanor. Wearing a wide skirt and long detached sleeves at an active event requires constant garment maintenance when walking or sitting to avoid crushing the ruffles or dirtying the hem. However, the final photo results turned out wonderful; the sheer tulle glowed softly under indoor lighting, highlighting an ethereal lightness.
