[Misaki cosplay] Blue Archive sweater look, wanna watch TV together, meow?

For this Blue Archive doujin festival, I cosplayed Misaki in a sweater look. The entire outfit leans toward a cozy, lazy-at-home aesthetic while retaining eye-catching details. The large, white fuzzy animal ear headwear is accented with light blue ribbons on the inside, and paired with a blue bow on the chest, it adds cool-toned depth to the clean white palette. The knit fuzzy sweater features an openwork, crochet-like texture; under the studio lights, it beautifully highlights the soft fabric. It is styled with white plush wrist cuffs and knit leg warmers, creating a cohesive visual harmony.

To complement the outfit's mood, the set was intentionally designed with a retro Japanese aesthetic. Tatami mats covered the floor along with woven cushions, while the backdrop featured an old-fashioned orange CRT TV, a silver-gray boombox, a wooden storage cabinet, and a calendar. The shoot used bright, high-key lighting against solid white walls, making the scene appear remarkably clean, airy, and dreamily nostalgic. To add dimension, the photographer shot from a high angle using tilted diagonal compositions, breaking stiffness and extending visual space.

In terms of posing, Misaki possesses a distinct Cool-cute face, so before the lens, I kept my expression calm, gazing directly into the camera while avoiding forced smiles. In the first shot, sitting on a round straw mat with one leg slightly raised accentuated the leg lines as well as the contour of the sweater hem. In the second shot, sitting sideways while holding an ankle revealed a hint of the back and clear straps, adding a touch of allure. The third shot captures me kneeling forward on the straw mat with arms stretched out, like a cat waiting to be petted, matching the feline vibe mentioned in the post.

Capturing this set took considerable effort. The openwork texture of the sweater easily loses detail under harsh light, requiring meticulous adjustments to the camera and lighting setups. While the ear headpiece looks adorable, it became quite warm after wearing it for a while; to capture the most natural expression, I had to reset my breath and state right before each shutter press. Arranging retro props also required precision—the TV and boombox had to enrich the high-angle composition without overpowering the subject. Doujin festivals are all about creators gathering for their shared passion. Being able to express a beloved character in my own way and bringing mental images to life step by step is an incredibly rewarding experience.
