This photoshoot features the Bunny Drop maid theme for FrostNova from Arknights. For the outfit, classic blue-and-white checkered fabric was paired with abundant ruffles and lace. The pleats on the apron were handled with meticulous care, and the overall silhouette was heavily refined to convey a lively feel. To capture the texture of her short silver-white hair, the wig underwent dedicated cutting and styling, matched on top with plush grey-and-white animal ears that retain the darker fur details at the tips. The makeup focused primarily on a clean, translucent finish, complemented by blue contact lenses to match the character's traits.
Props were the highlight of this shoot. The giant Bunny Drop candy was crafted from lightweight materials, with red-and-blue patterned graphics and lettering printed across its surface, embodying the Bunny Drop motif while creating a visual contrast with the maid outfit. The smaller candy props scattered around my feet shared the same packaging design. The location was a large indoor venue in Zhanjiang; the steel rafters and skylights overhead were illuminated with purplish-red ambient lighting by photographer Huanghun, clashing intensely in color with the vivid green grass in the foreground.
To create the visual effect of floating mid-air without wirework being feasible, we had to rely on continuous jump snaps. I needed to gently pinch the skirt hem with my left hand while propping up the oversized candy prop with my right, straightening both legs in mid-air to sustain an airy, weightless posture. This posture placed high demands on core strength, requiring numerous attempts before capturing a truly natural moment. Although jumping on grass in small leather shoes was somewhat inconvenient, the resulting lighting and overall composition made all the effort worthwhile.
Blending the Bunny Drop element with a maid outfit was an effort to infuse a lighthearted, sweet visual experience while preserving FrostNova's inherent cool aura. The pattern of the checkered skirt was tailored so its flare arc aligned cleanly with mid-air leaps. From sourcing the garments and crafting props to perfecting hair, makeup, and lighting coordination, the entire journey involved constant refinement of details. The allure of Anime-style photography lies in transforming 2D imagination into three-dimensional scenes; having tested fresh ideas in color palettes and dynamic action capture, I hope the final look resonates with everyone's expectations.
