I finally shot Chasca's look this time, choosing the background of the limited-time island map. Although the venue was just a concrete wall inside the exhibition hall, combined with this black, red, and gold primary-colored gear, the resulting photos unexpectedly fit the fierce temperament in the game. Speaking specifically about the replication of this Genshin Impact cosplay, the most troubling part was still managing the red wig. The detail of that purple streak on the left side and the hanging thin braids took a lot of effort just to style so it wouldn't look like a wig cap. The pointed elf ears props also needed foundation to cover the edges to match the skin tone, which is always a time-consuming step.
The shoot was mainly divided into two scenes: close-ups and half-body shots. Posing like raising the longbow in Picture 1 actually requires a lot of arm strength to support. This bow was custom-made by a prop master. Although the material is lightweight, it is still very heavy to hold for a long time for the sake of texture and hardness. The side profile half-body shot in Picture 2 can beautifully showcase the asymmetrical structure design of the outfit. The geometric totem gold prints on the chest and waist are very fine, and combined with the reflective feel of the black leather, it looks particularly layered under the lights. Those blue and gold pendants and tassels on the body jiggle as I move, adding a lot of dynamic details, though they also increase the physical burden during Anime convention photography. This character costume styling really feels alive.
What I empathized with the most was actually Picture 4, which was taken at the exhibition site at over 30 degrees Celsius. Wearing this relatively light, semi-revealing gear, I was already covered in sweat. Yet the coser next to me, fully armored with a completely sealed black and red helmet, carrying complex full-body armor and a giant star-shaped weapon, actually managed to hold out all day. At that moment, I really felt that cosplay is definitely a pure physical labor; you have to keep the cool posture while resisting the fatigue brought by high temperatures and prop weight. These bits and pieces of the suit components look handsome, but after putting them on, the mobility of the joints is restricted, not to mention having to maintain the character's expression throughout the entire process.
Going back to the character herself, from her first appearance in the plot, I really liked her valiant and independent temperament. Although what players got this time was only a limited-time map and a limited-time plot, I'm already very happy to see her active in this version. Actually, as a player who loves this character, every time I watch the plot, I wish it could be longer. The roles given in the Archon Quest are truly too few, and the deep dive into her personality like a Story Quest leaves people wanting more. I really hope HoYoverse can arrange more plot space for her in future new versions; she deserves more nuanced development.
The day of the shoot happened to coincide with the release of the new version preview content, and everyone was discussing the subsequent plot direction. As both a coser and a player, replicating her with this love for the character is inherently a very meaningful thing. Whether it's the heatwave of the island or the hustle and bustle in the anime convention photography venue, as long as the confidence, freedom, and sense of power that the character wants to express can be presented, all the hard work becomes valuable. Chasca is not just a controllable object in the game; she is more like a companion with her own firm beliefs. Although it was only a brief reunion, I am already content and looking forward to the next encounter in the plot.
