[Saigyouji Yuyuko cosplay] Yozakura and the Boundless Breeze in Touhou Project

This shoot chose a midnight cherry blossom forest as the background, directly corresponding to the combination of the netherworld and spring cherry blossoms represented by Saigyouji Yuyuko in Touhou Project. To express the netherworld maiden's temperament—seemingly lazy yet carrying a mysterious, detached sense—the focus of the entire makeup and styling was placed on the pink short hair and reddish eyeshadow. The lip color selected was a pale nude pink to match the character's unique ghost attribute, making the overall gaze look both soft and slightly aloof.

Regarding the costume, this light blue and white classic dress utilizes extremely intricate lace and ruffle decorations; lace trimmings cover everything from the wide cuffs to the neckline, while the sheer tulle texture on the outer rim of the skirt hem combined with the petticoat inside makes the overall look fluffy and lightweight. The headpiece's bonnet structure features a layered design with multiple layers of stacked lace; to maintain its crisp shape in the night wind, a lot of effort was spent on adjusting the framework before shooting. The transparent lace umbrella used in the first picture is a key prop; its ribs produced very beautiful halo reflections under the illumination of the fill light, which not only enhanced the overall translucency of the frame but also served perfectly as a mediator of light and shadow, transitioning the color boundary between the dark night scenery background and the light blue dress.

When completing the leg-lifting posture in the first photo, body balance was highly demanding. I needed one hand to stabilize the transparent parasol while raising the other hand to cooperate with the tilt angle of the upper body to create a lightweight, ethereal feel. The patterns on the white lace thigh-high stockings were exceptionally clear under the spotlight, and the thick-soled wooden geta on my feet, paired with colorful straps, created a wonderful visual clash with the intricate Lolita cosplay style of the upper body. This bottom-to-top diagonal composition, paired with a large area of cascading pink flower branches and the dark background, perfectly created the streamlined dynamic of that phrase "boundless breeze and moon." Although the range of motion was large, I exercised restraint in my expression management, maintaining a level gaze to closely match Saigyouji Yuyuko's ethereal, otherworldly, and elusive aura.

The second photo adopts a more static, low-angle half-body close-up, with the posture of both hands cooperating with a held purple-to-pink gradient folding fan. The color of this fan not only forms a harmonious color echo with the pink wig and the background Yozakura, but the delicate, light-colored round-fan textures on the surface also elevate the frame's texture to a higher level. When shooting this composition, opening the aperture wide created a massive amount of background bokeh, firmly locking the focus on the character's eyes. Wearing red contact lenses paired with the pink-white eyeshadow made the gaze look even deeper and sharper. The fitting feel of the light blue lace at the neckline and the white layered collar made this half-body composition appear dignified yet full of magnificent Gothic romance. The background blur processing turned the edges of the cherry blossom branches into soft vignetting, naturally bringing out the character.

Regarding the shooting conditions for a Night portrait, in an environment without natural moonlight, it relied entirely on reflectors and artificial fill lights. At the moment of holding the umbrella in the first photo, the light source was intentionally angled upward from beneath the umbrella handle, creating a faint illusion of a glowing transparent umbrella surface. Simultaneously, this backlight outlined the rim light along the edges of the wig and the skirt hem's lace. This use of light perfectly fits the half-real, half-illusion atmosphere setting of "cherry blossoms falling in the netherworld." Although carrying a heavy wig and complex headpieces outdoors at night, while stepping through cherry blossom branches in thick-soled shoes to find camera angles and avoid scratching the clothes was challenging, seeing the final prints made me feel that the unique coolness and lighting ratio of night photography are indeed superior to direct outdoor sunlight during the day, which also better reproduces the sense of mystery under the netherworld background.

Overall, this Touhou Project Saigyouji Yuyuko cosplay is not merely about replicating the character's own decorations, but more about presenting the interwoven beauty of magnificence and laziness inherent to the character through the pairing of this light blue lace dress, pink hair, and specific props, combined with the ambient lighting during the shoot, bringing everyone a beautiful atmosphere tinged with ethereal colors.
