This time, for the fan-design look of Flandre Scarlet from Touhou Project, the overall visual style leans toward a lighter and more gorgeous presentation. The costume uses red-and-white stripes and layered ruffles as its main elements. The alternating red-and-white color scheme, along with her iconic large yellow bow, forms the color foundation of this look. The colorful crystal blocks on the black-and-white wings are the highlight of the entire styling, refracting different lusters under indoor lighting. To capture the best light and shadow effects, I intentionally adjusted my body's turning angle during the shoot. The teddy bear doll in my hands is not just a prop, but a key element helping to express emotion; holding it makes my movements naturally become softer.
The shooting venue was inside a shopping mall, combining natural light with the store's spotlights, which posed a real challenge for capturing the fabric's texture. The photographer L9UHN was extremely meticulous when guiding my poses. Dynamic movements like standing on one leg or slightly crouching beautifully display the layers and fluffiness of the skirt hem. The wig underwent some layered trimming, which, combined with the lace-edged hat, enhanced the character's uniquely playful temperament. White stockings paired with red-soled white leather shoes provide a more complete visual look when walking.
When making this outfit, a fabric with excellent drape was specifically chosen, so that even with multiple layers of the skirt hem, it can still maintain a lightweight shape when spinning around. Fan-designs offer high creative freedom; in addition to restoring basic elements, you can also blend some of your own designs into the makeup. To complement the red-and-yellow tones of the costume, a warm color palette was specifically chosen for the eye makeup, making the overall frame more harmonious. The greatest fun of an outdoor shoot is interacting with the environment; when the mall is crowded, it actually tests your ability to focus and enter the character. Through this set of photos, I hope to convey Flandre's seemingly innocent yet spontaneous personality traits through expressions and body language. Combining outdoor natural light with indoor artificial light sources was the main lighting method for this outdoor photoshoot sharing session. Throughout the cooperation process, communication with the photographer was seamless, and the captured expressions turned out quite natural for this piece of Anime cosplay reflecting a Moe-style outfit.
