[Fleurdelis cosplay] Wuthering Waves: Holy Echoes Beneath Deep Waters

The official photos for this underwater-themed Fleurdelis cosplay and Cartethyia Cosplay set are finally compiled. Post-processing by Canglanxing gave the water element a tangible, fluid texture. Combined with the lighting by Chenhun Guangying, the photos have an exceptionally clear and translucent light-and-shadow quality.

To recreate the visual feel of these two deep-water characters, everything from wig color matching to costume textures was meticulously researched. Because the shooting environment was an enclosed pool designed for underwater special effects photography, my partner and I had to maintain stable postures in the water for long periods, which demanded extreme physical endurance and facial expression control. Fortunately, we prepared thorough plans for action design beforehand, capturing many optimal moments in our paired shots. The sense of depth created by the flowing water around us perfectly matched the characters' inherent magical attributes.

In the duo photos, we experimented with a front-and-back spatial positioning, allowing the sunlight refraction in the shallow water to echo colorwise with the deep blue of the deeper water. Fleurdelis's part focused on expressing sacredness and tranquility, so we strove to create an ethereal and clear quality in her gaze and styling. Paired with frozen spellcasting gestures, it creates strong tension amidst the interplay of waves and bubbles. Cartethyia's part, however, was completely different; to highlight her combat attributes and the momentum of erupting water elements, we specifically shot close-ups with dramatic water splashes. Canglanxing incorporated flowing fluid effects into the poster composite, blending the armor on her arm seamlessly with the blue water reflections. This far exceeded my expectations for standard photo editing, infusing the entire image with a rich sense of storytelling.

I have always really loved this character's costume design—the corset, lacing, and skirt strike a balance between elegance and neatness. Especially in an underwater environment, the skirt naturally floats upward due to buoyancy, giving it an effortless sense of flow without needing much artificial adjustment. The details on the shoes and small accessories also enhance the overall completeness of the outfit. This immersive shooting experience made me feel as if I were truly in that mysterious deep blue sea. Being in the water all day during the shoot, plus taking waterproofing measures and salvaging makeup in between, was honestly exhausting. But seeing the final frozen moments in the photos made all the hard work completely worth it. We kept adjusting the position and intensity of the lighting to simulate that shimmering, dreamy underwater effect, even pushing the water at different speeds just to capture the most natural frame as water droplets slid down the face.

Additionally, the biggest highlight of this dual cosplay shoot lies in our precise restoration of the subtle aura differences between the two characters—one quiet, one dynamic—yet creating a magical resonance within the same space and time. During the preparation stages before and after shooting, our pursuit of detail required us to repeatedly cross-reference original materials. From initial makeup and hair design to final post-composite editing, immense effort from everyone was poured into the entire process. I know Cosplay is not just about putting on clothes and striking a pose; it is more about understanding and engaging with the character. That is why in every set of official photos, I hope to do my best to interpret different nuances, living up to the title of Saint and honoring this theme beneath deep waters. I hope these relatively understated yet highly textured images convey the original charm of the characters and my personal interpretation of this work.
