Today at the Guangzhou The Idolmaster Only site, the overall atmosphere truly exceeded expectations. The character I cosplayed this time is Katsuragi Lilja. To present a relatively good look for this Guangzhou Anime Convention, I did a lot of homework on makeup styling and costumes beforehand. The wig was chosen as a silver-white blunt-bangs style with layered trimming. The makeup focused on bright blue contact lenses and pinkish blush, hoping to restore that doll-like texture that is a bit aloof yet cute.
There are many details in the costume, mainly based on white, with light blue lace spliced at the shoulders and neckline, black double-breasted buttons on the chest, fluffy ruffled sleeves, a wide silver metal buckle belt at the waist, and a multi-layered translucent tulle skirt on the lower body with blue lace edging on the skirt hem. To avoid the clothes being wrinkled at the convention, I paid close attention while walking around the site.
The happiest part was exchanging freebies with everyone inside the venue. Everyone's business cards and freebies are truly super exquisite, and you can tell a lot of thought went into the design layout and image selection. The process of receiving freebies was extremely smooth, and fellow fans were very friendly. Receiving them in hand made me extremely happy, and I could also feel everyone's love for the work. Special thanks here to the friend who helped me retouch photos on the spot, as well as the big Lilja doll—holding it in hand for photos makes it really photogenic. I also brought a small version of the same pendant, taking many photos combining the big and small ones.
While strolling around the venue, I also met many cosers portraying other characters. We took photos and chatted with each other, feeling exceptionally warm. Although Guangzhou's weather outside is very hot, the time spent with fellow fans inside the exhibition hall passed by extremely quickly. The experience of this Guangzhou Anime Convention was great; the venue layout was relatively reasonable, the lighting was sufficient, and I really like the texture of the cosplay event photos taken with natural light.
When tidying up the skirt hem and adjusting the wig alone in a corner, although I felt that cosplaying is indeed a tiring thing—having to carry big and small bags and constantly watch out for smudged makeup—seeing the images presented in the camera and the heavy freebies in hand made it all completely worthwhile. I hope there will be more opportunities in the future to participate in themed only-exhibitions like this, and I also hope to continue honing my makeup styling techniques to present more favorite characters in an even better state. Today was truly a fulfilling and happy day.
