Cosplaying this Delusional Angel look of Sunna from Zenless Zone Zero was something I planned long ago. Completing the on-site shoot at Firefly ACG Expo this time felt more tiring than expected, but seeing the highly refined final photos made it feel completely worthwhile.
First was restoring the costume, makeup, and props. The cut of the white shirt was critical, and paired with a bright red tie patterned with stars and white wings, it instantly established Sunna's street-smart vitality with a touch of coolness. The black metal studded choker around my neck added plenty of heroic combat-girl spirit, while the thick pink-and-white striped knit wrist warmers on my arms softened the sharpness, serving as an eye-catching visual highlight in this anime cosplay outfit. The tiered black ruffled puff miniskirt on the lower half was custom-made, creating a wonderfully dynamic flow when walking.
The accessories were equally rich: I spent a long time fine-tuning the fit of the black leather leg harness straps and pink pouch on my thigh. For the perfect visual effect, they did leave slight marks when moving, but that precisely reflected the character's lightweight, high-mobility design ethos. The white round-toe platform shoes on my feet, paired with the iconic striped long socks cosplay (pink-and-white thigh-highs), visually elongated my body proportions.
The pink-and-white megaphone prop held this time had substantial weight. Especially in the third photo, balancing on one leg while holding the prop in an attacking posture took multiple attempts; my left arm grew sore from holding it up, but the resulting shot was full of visual tension and dynamism.
At Firefly ACG Expo, I intentionally picked a higher-floor spot near the floor-to-ceiling windows for shooting. The lighting was very soft, and the distant urban high-rises along with crowds bustling outside the glass windows in the background perfectly matched the urban sci-fi, trendy aesthetic of Zenless Zone Zero. Although the venue was quite hot and packed with passersby, this authentic convention buzz breathed even more vitality into this photo set.
For makeup, I applied warm-toned eyeshadow blending and glossy lips, keeping highlights delicate. Paired with the short mint-green hair and several custom-made geometric pointed hair clips, I strived to make the overall look radiate energy, playfulness, and optimism at every moment.
The meaning of cosplay goes far beyond just putting on an outfit; it is about embodying the character's inner personality before the camera. Whether it was the casual ease of waving hello in photo one or the confident stance with hands on hips in photo two, I did my best to step into Sunna's perspective. The overall photoshoot experience was fantastic—being able to appear at Firefly ACG Expo in such a complete look, interacting with fellow fans, and capturing this vivid photo set was a deeply fulfilling achievement. Though my makeup was melted and my energy depleted by the end, seeing myself seemingly truly fused with that Delusional Angel made all the hard work vanish into pure joy.
