Finally wrapped up the outdoor night shoot portion of these NARAKA: BLADEPOINT Justina Gu cosplay convention photos from the Chengdu World Line Anime Exhibition. First, let's discuss this outfit: the white modified sleeveless Qipao cosplay was crafted from fabric with subtle jacquard weave, which prevents overexposure under strong night fill lighting while preserving the garment's rich layering. The frog fasteners at the neckline, golden embroidery across the chest, and gold trim along the waist were all custom-made piece by piece by a specialized tailor. The side slits are cut very high; to make walking inside and outside the venue manageable, I layered a pair of black shorts underneath. To enhance the overall visual tension, I accented the look with golden waist chains and small red tassels, which created a delightful chiming sound as the metal clinked while walking.

The hair styling took the most time. The silver-white long hair with forehead bangs required daily restyling using curling irons and hairspray. To echo the blue colored contacts, I chose a light blue ribbon to tie a side ponytail, making hair-flipping movements look much more natural during shooting. For makeup, the focus was placed on eye contours without using overly heavy colors—mainly applying distinct, well-defined individual false lashes to pair with the light colored contacts, recreating that cool, aloof, and slightly detached gaze.

Among the styling details, my personal favorite is this pair of white semi-sheer long lace gloves. The intricate lace edging slightly restricted arm mobility once worn, yet this restraint happened to refine my posture, making the character appear all the more dignified. For the legs, I selected sheer black stockings featuring floral vine patterns, paired with white platform high heels for this Stockings cosplay. The contrast between the black stockings and the white Qipao was truly striking before the camera, especially when crossing my legs seated on a black folding stepladder; this classic color clash contributed greatly to elevating the visual depth of the frame.

The convention hall was packed on the day of the event, and indoor lighting was chaotic. To avoid passersby cluttering the background, we deliberately scheduled the shoot for dusk, heading out to an open plaza outside the venue to use distant city lights and streetlamps as our backdrop. We hauled our own portable studio lights and folding stepladder to the spot. Truth be told, posing atop a folding ladder in high heels is demanding physical work: not only do you have to manage your center of gravity and arch your insteps to elongate leg lines, but you also have to be extremely careful not to snag or tear the stockings. With every shutter click, the photographer had to adjust lighting angles, while I constantly repositioned the drape of the skirt to ensure the tantalizing lines along the high slit showed up clearly.

As stunning as this outfit is, the accessories are quite fiddly, taking considerable time to put on, remove, and organize during the convention. However, seeing how the distant bokeh and the subject formed a rich cool-warm contrast in the final images, with details on cuffs and the waistline captured with razor clarity, all the earlier exhaustion genuinely melted away. This outdoor shoot experience at the Chengdu World Line Anime Exhibition gave me direct insight into nighttime portrait lighting; for future outdoor shoots, I'll definitely study how to trim dressing and prop prep time in advance to focus more energy on the shoot itself.
