Let's dive straight into the topic. When shooting this rooftop exterior, the wind on the rooftop was extremely strong, and the wig was almost blown off the hairnet. I was initially worried that this chaotic feel would ruin the styling, but after the photos came out, I found that the natural tension brought by the wind actually fit the character's own aura perfectly. Asuka's exterior is powerful and tsundere, but there is actually another layer in her eyes. The themes of this shoot, "Gaze" and "She Sees a Different World in Her Eyes," were meant to capture this contrast. To maximize the recreation of the school casual setting, besides the iconic red and black A10 nerve connector hair clips, for the outfit, I chose a red-and-white horizontally striped halter crop top, paired with washed distressed blue denim shorts, as well as white athletic mid-calf socks with red stripes and white sneakers. The overall color tone is very refreshing and carries a retro feel. Under the refraction of the highlights in the wind, the blue contact lenses made her gaze look exceptionally clear. During the shoot, it actually took a lot of effort to capture the candid moments because the wind speed and direction were completely uncontrollable. Every time the shutter was pressed, the direction of the hair strands was entirely different. To get a photo where the hair strands looked natural without blurring the face, the photographer and I repeatedly adjusted angles and burst modes. This kind of authentic shooting environment is actually much more interesting than being in a studio; the wind is the most natural prop, and it endows the frame with a dynamic beauty that cannot be simulated by post-processing. Although the wind left things a bit messy, this vibrant, unpretentious atmosphere is exactly a side of this character's life. There was no need to deliberately strike cool expressions; instead, set against the backdrop of the rooftop fences and the city's gray-and-white buildings, the raw photos naturally carried a Japanese retro fresh texture. When the final images came out, the effect of hair strands covering the eyes actually added a touch of mystery. This is probably the charm of outdoor locations and what I hope to convey to the audience through this set of photos—letting the character step out from the lens rather than purely imitating her appearance.
