When slinging this red, white, and black giant blade prop over my shoulder, my first impression was that the weight was much more solid than expected. However, it is precisely this sense of weight that gives the entire look a realistic combat texture. The grip of the prop features a red circular structure and meticulous coating; when actually swinging it or casually resting it on my shoulder, I can clearly feel the toughness of the material and the friction of the surface.
Just as mentioned in the post's description, continuously interacting with this giant blade, adjusting angles, and posing really takes an undeniable toll on one's nails. To restore the character's fingertip details, I specially chose a deep red nail polish, allowing it to form a sharp visual accent and contrast with the white shirt and black pleated skirt. However, during the frequent adjustments of the weapon's position, no matter how careful my movements were, I could still hear slight rubbing sounds, making me constantly worry that this meticulously maintained detail might be accidentally scratched during combat poses.
The core visual logic of the entire look actually lies in the restrained handling of the black-and-white relationship. The neckline of the upper white shirt looks casual, but it requires meticulous adjustment of the buttons and the opening angle of the collar, while properly fixing that wide black choker, so as to keep the lines clean and crisp from the neck to the collarbone area. The high-waisted black pleated skirt paired for the lower body, complemented by a wide black belt with a silver square buckle, cuts out the waistline explicitly. This sharply tailored clothing structure easily forms solid shadows under overhead lighting, endowing the frame with immense tension.
In terms of makeup and styling, the red eyeshadow is the key to the entire facial design. While this might be a bit exaggerated in daily makeup, within the context of cosplay, it forms a highly harmonious resonance with the short black hair. The layers of the wig were trimmed relatively finely; under the illumination of the venue lights, the direction of the hair strands creates different light refractions, making the head contour look crisp rather than dull. Because the hairstyle leaves plenty of open space, the texture of the eye makeup and lip color becomes exceptionally important; only by making the makeup delicate can it carry the overall minimalist clothing design.
The actual background when shooting this photo was actually quite crowded, with the blurred light spots and silhouettes of people behind being characteristic of a typical indoor exhibition area. The light source shining down from above was very harsh; to balance the contrast between light and dark in the frame, I intentionally chose a positioning where my face slightly turned toward the light source. The hand gesture finally frozen was actually an ad-libbed choice during the scene: easily carrying the heavy weapon on my shoulder while naturally opening the five fingers of the other hand toward the lens. Handling it this way not only preserves the character's comfortable sense of ease but also builds a touch of intimate interactive atmosphere within the frame.
I always feel that the core charm of this character lies in that gap-moe of "seeming indifferent on the outside, yet having a clear attitude on the inside." She is by no means a combatant who is constantly tense, but more like someone accustomed to maintaining her composure during intervals of fierce confrontation. Therefore, before the lens, I deliberately abandoned overly fierce expressions, slightly tilting my head or facing the viewfinder with a relaxed stance, which instead made it easier for people to capture the character's uniquely uninhibited temperament.
Happening to catch the milestone of the Zenless Zone Zero 2nd Anniversary, standing on site wearing this costume indeed carries a very special sense of ritual. From initially deciding to embody this character, down to handling the red-themed coating on the giant blade, to adjusting the height of the rolled-up shirt cuffs, the entire preparation process is actually a type of spiritual extension of the game's worldview. Although it leans toward a daily student uniform style, once combined with such an exaggerated and aggressive weapon, it instead manages to express many vivid detailed reactions during the actual restoration shoot. The 2nd anniversary is an important milestone for the entire game world. As an enthusiast, being able to get closer to this fictional world through cosplay and visually reproduce those elements I love is also a highly fulfilling thing.
