The cosplay photoshoot for Tachibana Nozomi and Tachibana Hikari from Blue Archive is wrapped. The key focus of this shoot was recreating that unique mesugaki personality characteristic of the Railway Twins. To match the setting, we specifically chose a classroom as the shoot location, accessorized with props such as handcuffs, a whiteboard, desks, and chairs. During the shoot, special attention was paid to capturing nuanced expressions, requiring a subtle blend of mischievous playfulness and provocation.
For the outfits, we selected the standard gym uniform set: a white short-sleeved shirt paired with dark blue athletic shorts, complemented by White stockings over the knees to flatter leg lines nicely. The wig features bright green highlights; to better align with the character, elf ear accessories were added, and the green spiral halo overhead was composited in post-production to faithfully match the anime aesthetic.
We experimented with multiple action sets during shooting. For example, sitting on the desk with legs extended forward, utilizing the restraint of handcuffs to highlight that slightly rebellious, cheeky mesugaki charm; or waving with both hands raised to increase interactivity; and in the third shot, reaching out toward the lens to shorten visual perspective distance. Considering overall composition and balance, I found the first photo to deliver the best visual impact. In this shot, the character is centered, the White stockings and boots pairing is fully showcased, and without any watermarks distracting the view, I chose it as the cover.
Post-processing primarily pursued a clean, bright indoor ambiance with gentle light-and-shadow contrast. Fabric folds and metallic prop textures were also handled with fine detail. As a cosplay endeavor, I hoped to present the character's intrinsic traits as authentically as possible. Prior to shooting, I carefully studied character animations and personality traits to ensure the portrayal went beyond surface-level dressing. Throughout the formal shoot, multiple adjustments were made to both facial expressions and body language, striving to bring out the contrast between playing innocent and causing mischief in class. Overall, it was a very enjoyable shoot and a complete realization of the characters.
