This time, I'm sharing a set of purple-themed campus style photos of Genshin Impact Keqing cosplay. For the hairstyle, light purple twintails paired with cat ears were chosen, which is one of Keqing's highly recognizable traits. In terms of makeup, sharpness was toned down in favor of a soft-focus eyeshadow effect, adding a touch of friendliness to Keqing's aloof nature. The outfit is a classic short-sleeved white shirt, tied with a purple-blue plaid bow tie at the collar and adorned with a custom small badge on the chest. The lower half was paired with a matching plaid pleated skirt, Black stockings, and a pair of chunky-heeled black Mary Jane leather shoes.
The combination of Black stockings and chunky heels not only elongates body proportions but also draws the visual center naturally to the lower half. Poses snapped while squatting beautifully showcase the leg lines wrapped in Black stockings, adding a touch of convention and campus vitality to Keqing's daily feel. The shooting location was an outdoor plaza walkway, where 3:30 PM natural sunlight filtered through leaves onto light gray floor tiles. Photographer Huaiyi was adept at capturing this outdoor light and shadow, suggesting I try different compositions and poses. From standing while lifting the skirt hem, to squatting to adjust shoe laces, and sitting sideways on the tiles, every pose was an effort to find the character expression that best fit Keqing.
Midway through, we encountered an exceptionally friendly Corgi that actively ran over wanting to grab the leash, so we took the opportunity to capture interactive moments with the dog on camera. This slice-of-life image, straying from standard posing routines, felt richer in storytelling than purely staged shots. The core theme of the entire shoot was "purple charm." In Genshin Impact, Keqing's official design mostly features purple and white combinations, but I wanted to find a fresh angle within an everyday context. This Preppy style outfit's plaid elements interweave purple, blue, and pink for a softer feel that, paired with the light purple wig, retains character symbolism while dissolving the distance of a combat stance. Post-processing preserved the texture of Black stockings in shadows and the crisp folds of the pleated skirt without excessive color grading, keeping the image clear and translucent.
While posing, I paid special attention to shifting my body's center of gravity. For instance, when squatting, keeping legs slightly apart allowed the weight to sink evenly, making the transition between Black stockings and shoes look smoother and allowing the skirt hem to spread out naturally. When sitting, I chose to extend my legs toward the side of the lens so leg lines gained an elongated perspective effect. Before every shot, I carefully straightened the bow tie and skirt pleats, because plaid skirts look messy in photos if not neatly aligned. The full set of photos presented here took about two hours to shoot. Between interacting with the dog and dodging passersby on the busy plaza, the yield rate wasn't exceptionally high, but the final selected shots are ones I'm deeply satisfied with.
I particularly love the close-up squatting pose, which I feel nicely merges the character's innate demeanor with the daily feel I wished to convey. The contrast between Black stockings and the light-colored wig gives the entire frame a gentle balance, while the thick soles of the chunky heels add a grounded weight to the composition. This shoot allowed me to interpret Keqing in a whole new way. I hope to try casual interpretations of other Genshin Impact characters next time. This shoot also served as a great warmup for the Cpgz07 convention, where I'll continue to extend this purple-toned style. If you enjoy this kind of everyday character recreation, keep an eye out for Genshin Impact character-derived outfits in campus settings—I find them immensely fun.
