The character I cosplayed this time at the Firefly ACG Expo is Laffey II from Azur Lane. This year happens to be the 9th anniversary of Azur Lane, so I specifically chose this commemorative outfit for the photo shoot.
Let's talk about the gear. The long white hair and red pupils are the soul of the entire hair and makeup look. This wig had great smoothness and didn't take too much time to style. The blue headband paired with those giant bunny ears instantly gave the look character recognition upon putting them on. To complement this blue-and-white outfit, I specifically prepared many fur ball decoration details, including large pom-poms on the cuffs and collar, which look exceptionally soft.
Regarding makeup, I attempted a fairly translucent foundation look this time, highlighting the layered depth of the eye makeup. Combined with pink lipstick, the overall look feels very energetic. The red contact lenses really popped under convention lights, making the gaze look much more vibrant.
On-site experience-wise, the foot traffic at the Firefly ACG Expo was huge, but the venue layout was set up thoughtfully. I took a massive amount of photos, and my personal favorite is the one holding a phone case printed with my own chibi image. This pattern was an officially designed element for the 9th anniversary, serving as a prop that perfectly echoes the character.
As for my thoughts on convention photography, I've always felt cosplay isn't just about putting on clothes, but digging into the character's personality traits. Although Laffey usually appears languid, she is incredibly reliable in battle. Therefore, when taking photos, I sought out more relaxed, casual standing poses. To take this mirror selfie, I adjusted angles repeatedly to ensure the entire bunny ears weren't blocked by the mirror frame.
A full day's convention itinerary was exhausting, but loving this character made all the hard work completely worth it. While indoor lights were good, they also tested fill-light balancing; when shooting, I experimented a bit in an environment combining natural and ambient indoor lighting, yielding great results. White hair strands look very light and airy under the camera, while fur balls on the outfit add a fluffy, soft dimension.
The photo production for this 9th anniversary Firefly ACG Expo went very smoothly. Wearing the blue-and-white Bunny ears cosplay attire, I felt as if I truly transformed into that reliable battle companion. I hope to convey this cuteness and high energy through Convention photos—it was a thoroughly joyful cosplay experience.
