The booth setup at BW2026 was remarkably distinctive, particularly that holographic floral installation background that bounced light into gorgeous iridescent rainbows. To complement this environment, I picked this techwear outfit infused with patent leather accents and metallic chains. The pink-to-white gradient wig paired with Cat ear headphones looked exceptionally sleek beneath the complex convention lighting. For makeup, I reinforced the eye contours using pink-toned eyeshadow and matching contact lenses to unify the overarching aesthetic.
On-site shooting was powered by a Viltrox lens paired with a Nikon camera body, which delivered rock-solid autofocus and color fidelity in the convention hall's dim, mixed-light environment. The half-crouch posture in Photo 4 actually tested my core strength heavily: balancing on my knees and high heels while keeping my upper body upright was essential to showcase the dimensional contrast between the Sheer stockings and the skirt hem. While clear high heels look stunning, walking in them across the expo all day was quite a physical feat. When light struck the patent-leather puff sleeves, the sharp specular highlights dramatically enriched the image's texture—my favorite detail of the outfit.
The shooting pace at the convention was fast-moving with heavy foot traffic. While shooting Photos 1 and 2, I framed against stained-glass windows and flower walls, brandishing a prop sword in varied combat stances as the white tulle skirt turned beautifully translucent under backlighting. When switching to the split black-and-white wig and red jacket styling, I sat right on the floor using a tomato-shaped cushion to inject playfulness, holding my twintails to accentuate the streetwear edge.
The greatest joy of convention shooting lies in genuine interaction with the environment. Angling slightly around booths with orange LED strips and brushed metal structures easily yielded cyberpunk-esque chiaroscuro. Facing the stage and crowds, I maintained steady expressions to help the photographer catch dynamic frames. Seeing the sci-fi backdrops and holographic blooms in the finished photos made every bit of exhaustion feel worthwhile.
I also crossed paths with many fantastic cosplayers. Everyone was seizing fleeting openings to find camera angles—like Tuntun in P3 and Wenzhouzhou_i in P4, both in peak condition. And in P10 and P11, Brother Gao and Brother Ji brought immense expressive energy; I constantly adjusted my footing to avoid obstructing their frames.
The magic of conventions is that while your body is exhausted, your spirits remain soaring. Different styles colliding under one roof sparked fresh inspiration for Anime-style portrait photography. For techwear and subculture fashion, dynamic physical tension showcases garment traits far better than static standing. This shoot gave me fresh insights into pairing Sheer stockings with patent leather, and I look forward to exploring more diverse lighting setups in upcoming finished shoots.
