This time I challenged the styling of Zenless Zone Zero's Delusional Angel Sunna, and the entire shooting process was very enjoyable. To recreate the character's playful vibe, a lot of thought went into the makeup, styling, and pose design. The mint-green wig's color is very eye-catching; to make it look fluffier and more natural, it took some time to trim and set. The cat ears on the headwear and the small ghost pendant beside them are the finishing touches—once worn, the character's feel instantly came alive. The outfit is a maid-style idol stage outfit with a classic black, white, and red color scheme, featuring many details. Especially the red tie and the overall black-and-white contrast absorbed light heavily in the white studio.
To match the shoot, I prepared that iconic megaphone gun prop. The red-and-white paint job is exquisite, and it feels particularly weighty in the hand. During the shoot, I tried various gun-holding poses: some looking cool with it slung over the shoulder like in the pictures, and others aiming it at the camera with one hand. Paired with a slightly head-tilted expression, it brings out the character's little-devil attribute. Another key prop is the red square backpack placed on a chair, featuring white wings and the number "3/4", which maxes out the two-dimensional concentration of the entire scene.
This time, a simple school desk and chair scene was set up in the white studio. The pure white background makes the image look very clean, and also maximizes the prominence of the clothing's colors and the character's silhouette. For the action of sitting on the desk, I tried sitting sideways and crossing my legs, which better showcases the combination of white stockings and slouch socks, coupled with those black platform chunky shoes, giving a sense of contrasting cuteness. In front of the camera, mastering the leg lines and overall center of gravity is very important; leaning forward slightly or supporting yourself with a hand on the tabletop makes the posture look more natural and relaxed.
In terms of facial expression management, I tried to keep it subtle this time without making overly exaggerated expressions, instead relying more on the gaze and subtle micro-expressions to convey Sunna's cuteness and liveliness. For example, making hand hearts with a little bit of shyness, or aiming the gun at the camera with a hint of tsundere. Using the school desk as a fulcrum adds more layering to the movements, preventing them from appearing stiff. Moreover, attention should be paid to the sense of interaction with the camera during the shoot, making it feel like greeting the person looking at the photos.
Overall, this set of photos did its best to restore the character's settings from the costumes and props to the scene layout. Although shooting in a white studio lacks a complex background, as long as light, shadow, and the character's body language are utilized well, photos with great tension can still be captured. Every cosplay is a re-understanding of the character, and I hope this record lets everyone feel Sunna's charm.
