Today's shoot is an indoor mirror selfie of Kagiyama Hina. This burgundy Lolita dress is extremely heavy-duty overall, and it took quite a bit of time from unboxing to dressing neatly. The main color of the clothing is a deep burgundy, with a fabric that has a slight natural sheen, refracting rich layers of light and shadow under the lights. The upper body features a short puff-sleeve design with tightened cuffs and dense white lace trims spliced together. There is a small bow on the chest, with beaded accessories hanging below it, and the details are very exquisite. To break the softness of the large-area skirt, I specially paired it outside with a black wide leather corset featuring metal buckles and straps; the stiff leather forms a strong material contrast with the smooth skirt hem, and also better defines the waistline position.
The skirt hem of the lower body is my most satisfying part. To support the wide silhouette, a petticoat was worn underneath, making the entire dress very heavy. The skirt body has a large number of gathers and ruffles, and the sound of fabric friction when walking is very clear. A circle of wide white hollow lace is sewn along the very edge of the skirt, making the overall visual center of gravity drop slightly, appearing more stable. A hint of green ribbon embellishment can be vaguely seen on the side, which counts as a hidden detail echo.
The head styling is the highlight of this outfit. I wore an oversized burgundy bow hair accessory embedded with a metal gemstone in the middle, surrounded by intricate white lace. Long pieces of fabric extend from both sides of the headpiece, hanging on the shoulders like a shawl. The wig uses mint green long straight hair; this cool-toned light color paired with a large area of burgundy creates an extreme contrast in front of the lens. The wig requires careful styling, and I spent a lot of time combing the direction of the bangs and the arc of the side stray hairs to ensure the overall silhouette is full and not frizzy.
Because it's just a simple indoor mirror record without professional lighting, I repeatedly adjusted the standing angle, holding the phone with one hand and lifting one side of the skirt hem with the other, which can slightly showcase the multi-layered structure of the dress within the limited frame. On my feet, I wore a pair of brown distressed lace-up short boots; the rugged texture neutralizes the exquisite feel of the dress. The white cabinet at the edge of the mirror became a natural background without overshadowing the main subject.
Kagiyama Hina's character setting itself is very distinctive. When preparing this styling, I was mainly thinking about how to present her mysterious yet not overly oppressive atmosphere through static photos. The color collision of burgundy and mint green, plus the mix-and-match of various lace and leather elements, visually presented the classic oil painting texture I expected. Although it's just a simple selfie record, the details of the clothing itself and the color matching are expressive enough. I will continue to study different styles of clothing pairing in the future and accumulate more shooting experience.
