This time I tried a Luo Tianyi cosplay look. The overall outfit leans toward a refreshing, light-colored style. The silver-gray short hair with a subtle teal gradient creates a nice warm-and-cool contrast against the orange strap top, which feels visually comfortable.
Let's first talk about the black ring hair ornament on top of the head and the small yellow star clips on the side. These two elements serve as the soulful accents for this styling, especially brightening things up during indoor shooting. The large pale-yellow flower accessories on both sides provide wonderful embellishment, making the head contour look fuller. Those two long silver-gray braids were also the tricky part of styling this wig. When I first received it, it was very frizzy, and I spent quite a long time combing and styling it. Fortunately, the final curvature turned out quite nice, providing a great visual extension when draped over the front of my body.
Regarding makeup, the absolute core this time was the pair of green colored contact lenses. After putting on the green colored contact lenses, paired with reddish shading on the lower eyelids, the overall gaze instantly took on a strong anime cosplay vibe. Since the wig color leans cool, this cool tone combined with emerald green eyes, a softer lip color, and fair base makeup didn't look overly out of place; instead, it achieved a very natural blend. Actually, before doing this cosplay, I spent several days researching eye makeup techniques to stay closer to the character and avoid looking OOC (out of character).
Next, let's talk about the outfit and accessories. This orange spaghetti-strap midriff-baring top is very lightweight, making it effortless to wear in summer. White lace trimming where the shoulder straps connect adds a touch of maiden delicate charm, and the white print on the chest matches well with the yellow-and-white accessories. I specifically paired it with a long dark brown cord necklace featuring a star pendant and key ring; this multi-layered fine cord necklace fills the empty area across the chest nicely so the overall styling doesn't look plain. For the lower half, I wore light gray drawstring elastic pants—casual and easygoing, with the waist drawstring making wearing and adjustments much more flexible.
Although these four photos were taken against a very ordinary solid-color backdrop wall without fancy studio sets, I believe blending cosplay with daily life photos is a wonderful way to document moments in itself. Figure 2 is my personal favorite: the hands-on-hips pose perfectly displays the waist-baring design of the top, which, paired with the color-blocking of orange and silver-gray, looks vibrant and full of energy. The braid-holding pose in Figure 3 feels softer, while Figure 4 intentionally makes a point-at-the-camera gesture to add interactive charm. Since the shooting environment was quite homey, the light was very direct, creating crisp shadows behind me, but this actually felt genuine without over-retouching, maintaining the unpretentious texture of raw shots.
Preparing this cosplay brought its share of small challenges, such as how to part the front bangs of the wig nicely and how to make the green colored contact lenses look natural without drastically altering face shape. But the joy of cosplay lies in solving these detailed issues with your own hands—from costume fitting to final photography, every step was filled with anticipation. This outfit is also very comfortable to wear out, so I plan to find an outdoor location or mall to shoot another set, experiencing variations brought by different light and backgrounds. Overall, this Luo Tianyi cosplay attempt brought me a lot of rewarding insights; though still constantly exploring, turning elements of a beloved character into my real self with my own hands is genuinely a joyful thing.
