I was up past six in the morning doing makeup and styling the wig; getting the ash-gray twin-tails just right took far longer than anticipated. To stay true to character details, I wore pale-blue framed clear glasses, green circle lenses, and pinned little bone and fish clips into the hair. Slipping into the blue-and-black colorblock athletic windbreaker jacket and matching shorts, along with a typographic crossbody strap, captured that casual, collegiate sporty energy. Knowing we'd be out exploring real life in Wuhan, I locked my base makeup down with long-wearing setting spray, planned for lightweight outdoor touch-ups, and reinforced the sideburns firmly with hair lacquer.
Our first stop headed straight to a local eatery for a traditional Wuhan breakfast. Holding the red paper bowl while slurping noodles made me slightly nervous about sauce splattering onto the jacket, so I deliberately slowed my chopstick movements. After noodles, I grabbed an ice cream cone; my friend caught a candid snap of me eating with my head down and said it looked wonderfully natural. Sitting beside the wooden outdoor tables while watching the shop owner hustle behind the counter offered an authentically grounded streetscape experience, infusing the captures with genuine slice-of-life charm.
Next, we headed to Wuhan Station for a check-in shot. Standing in front of the colossal glass curtain wall while gesturing toward the lens truly drove home the grandeur of this transit hub. Because the outdoor daylight in front of the station was brilliant, I had to watch my facial orientation to avoid backlit shadows darkening my features. By the time we transferred to the Yellow Crane Tower check-in spot, it was already afternoon; the blazing sun made it hard to keep my eyes open, so I shielded my brow with one hand while snapping into a crisp salute. Set against the traditional Chinese pavilion architecture, this modern sportswear ensemble sparked an intriguing visual contrast. The shot where I leaned against a white architectural railing flashing a peace sign was my absolute favorite—the framing was effortless, subtly highlighting leg lines while demonstrating how cleanly tailored the shorts were.
Overall, walking and shooting across Wuhan was delightfully relaxed. When it comes to Luo Tianyi cosplay, there is certainly room to polish makeup and nuances further. Initially, I worried about straying out of character by placing her in an ordinary everyday setting without grand fantasy backdrops. But upon reflection, carrying this look through authentic local cuisine and city landmarks was inherently joyful. Though the apparel and props were minimalist, striving to channel her bright, cheerful vibe across each locale fully satisfied my goals for the trip. I hope to scout more scenic urban outdoor locations down the line while refining wig textures and eye makeup dimensions even further.
