This black-and-white dress look for this cosplay sharing was hoped from the early preparation stages to present the texture of a magician naturally wandering through the forest. The overall costume chose a black-and-white color block, heavily utilizing lace and ruffles for patchwork, paired with platform ankle boots, which retains some mobility while emphasizing a sense of gorgeousness, so as not to completely detach from the realism of the outdoor environment. Additionally, that big hat and blonde hair are also the soul of the entire look, maintaining a clear silhouette even under high-intensity outdoor sunlight.

The shooting location was chosen in a forest park that hasn't been excessively artificially modified. The natural vegetation and the scent of soil here are highly suitable for creating a serene atmosphere. The afternoon sunlight filtered through the gaps in the branches and leaves of tall trees, casting mottled tree shadows on the ground and skirt hem; at many moments, one simply needs to wait for a beam of light piercing through the woods to get a frame with a true cinematic quality. To enrich the layers of the frame, we specially brought a warm-colored vintage lantern as a prop; even when used outdoors during the day, the warm yellow light source can add a warm breath of life to the dark environment.

During the shoot, we tried several different states. One was sitting quietly and reading, turning over a book with an orange cover beside a tree root, which was a highly immersive state, as if genuinely recording the trivial matters in the forest. Another was walking along the forest path holding the lantern and a parasol; the wide-crop composition beautifully captured the perspective of the woods and the dynamics of the character moving forward, with the skirt hem and long hair swaying naturally due to a gentle breeze. There was also a shot standing on a grassy slope, with my back to the camera, raising a hand to point toward the vast blue sky. Looking at the open cloud layers at that moment made me feel that my whole train of thought could drift out with them.

Regarding the choice of camera positions, the photographer intentionally adopted low-angle looking-up perspectives multiple times to shoot sitting poses. This angle can not only avoid a cluttered background and integrate the tree canopy and sky into the backdrop, but also beautifully combine the character with the fallen leaves on the ground, the lantern, and the platform shoes within the same frame, forming a visual sense of layers. Meanwhile, the low angle also makes the fluffiness of the skirt hem more obvious, which is a highly classic anime-style photography technique.

The close-up detail of holding a book to read is also one of my favorite shots, allowing one to see the texture of the costume's lace edges and the skin's color under natural light. This type of close-up can better convey the sophistication of the styling than large scenes. The overall post-production also coordinated with this natural feel, without over-adjusting the colors, but rather preserving the light and shadow atmosphere of the original photo and a touch of film grain as much as possible, making it look more like a real video record rather than a portrait blockbuster just to emphasize the character.

The sunlight was intense on the day of the shoot, and insects in the forest were inevitable, but being able to complete such a set of official photos that features both wide vistas and detailed close-ups brings a genuinely authentic sense of satisfaction inside. Through different movements and angles, we fused various elements like the black-and-white dress, platform boots, vintage lantern, and a vast natural environment together, completing a highly immersive character substitution experience. This is also my first shoot of 2026, and I hope this set of light and shadow filled with a cinematic cosplay feel can become a perfect record for this look.
