This Touhou Project Marisa cosplay look leaned toward a natural, casual snapshot style. For styling, I chose long Blonde hair paired with a single side braid. Styling this wig took considerable time to adjust the curl definition; because blonde hair fibers easily reflect glare under direct sunlight, I specially used matte spray to reduce any harsh synthetic plastic sheen.
For makeup, to faithfully recreate the character's lively spirit, focus was placed on the eye makeup. I paired light grey-blue colored contacts with extended false eyelashes and pinkish eyeshadow/blush, which not only made the eyes appear larger and more spirited, but also enhanced the doll-like vibe. For lips, I used a glossy, luminous pink lip tint, which gives a healthy, vibrant complexion under good lighting.
Regarding the costume, I chose this dress featuring white lace ruffles and a navy-blue lining (Lace skirt). The outer layer is sheer tulle printed with golden polka dots, accessorized with a sapphire pendant necklace on the chest. The outfit is packed with fine details; since the lace along the shoulders and neckline was slightly itchy against the skin, I wore an inner layer underneath. The sheer tulle exhibited gorgeous translucency under the sun, easily adding visual layers during outdoor shooting.
This shoot was set in a brightly sunlit spot, aiming to capture the natural shadows cast across the face. The Selfie angle was slightly high-angle (looking down), which slims the face, while resting a hand gently against my head showcased the lateral curve of the hairstyle. Because it was quite warm and wearing the wig cap and heavy attire caused significant sweating, thankfully waterproof, long-lasting makeup products kept the look intact.
Choosing a Selfie session rather than booking a photographer for formal studio shots was primarily to document this relaxed, carefree mood. When doing cosplay, I value costume texture deeply, because quality garments and styling paired with great lighting naturally convey a character's true essence. The photo set did not undergo complex retouching—mainly basic skin tone evening and blemish removal, preserving the authentic interplay of light and shadow. Under such bright illumination, aside from minor eyelash shadows near the eye corners, everything turned out very natural. For a casual Selfie session, the angles, lighting, and overall aura made this a deeply satisfying portrait log.
