For this photoshoot, we combined a Sailor suit outfit with an astronaut helmet, striving to create the sensation of traversing a Cyberpunk world within a nighttime metropolis. The entire shoot took place at night, with primary lighting drawn from street neon signs and a high-intensity continuous blue lamp we brought along. In the first shot, I rested both hands on the helmet in front of a self-illuminated square water tank installation; the blue light hit the helmet's glass visor, creating gorgeous refraction. To ensure adequate warm illumination on the face, we placed a warm light obliquely in front, achieving a layered interplay of warm and cool tones that accentuated skin texture in this futuristic style portrait.

In the second photo, I donned the helmet. The blue reflection on the visor glass was exceptionally strong; to keep my face from sinking entirely into darkness, I tilted my head slightly upward, harnessing top lighting from streetlamps to illuminate my facial features. The third shot adopted a pure profile angle looking upward, where warm side-lighting traced facial contours and lit the edges of my hair into a striking rim light. The background bokeh consisted of distant city lights melted into soft, circular orbs through a wide-aperture lens.

The pairing of a Sailor suit outfit and an astronaut helmet is genuinely fascinating: the sailor uniform symbolizes youth and daily life, whereas the helmet embodies the unknown cosmos and science fiction. Merging the two creates an intriguing conceptual tension. Wearing the helmet was actually quite stuffy, and while the breathing tube was just a prop, holding it in hand definitely carried noticeable weight. Throughout the shoot, I continually adjusted my head angle to ensure reflections on the visor didn't completely obscure my features. Makeup was kept delicate and understated, emphasizing a clean, translucent texture, as heavy makeup easily looks muddy under intense blue lighting. Eyelashes and eyeliner were kept sharp and crisp, working with side-profile contouring so the face retained three-dimensional definition in a cool-toned environment.

When shooting night portraits, the greatest challenge lies in controlling noise while securing adequate light. We utilized a higher ISO and wide aperture, incorporating ambient street lighting as fill light. The illuminating prop not only provided inner radiance for the helmet, but also illuminated the corrugated breathing tube in the foreground. In styling, aside from the basic sailor suit, I avoided overly complex accessories since the props were already visual centerpieces. During the shoot, I continuously held this thick breathing tube; its sturdy texture served as a great leading line beside the helmet. That illuminated water tank was handmade as well—crafted with internal props, coated with blue filter sheets, and plugged in to emit high brightness, serving fully as a practical light source. I adjusted distances so the blue light illuminated the helmet interior from bottom to top, creating an undulating, shimmering texture across the visor that matched Cyberpunk aesthetics impeccably.

To evoke that feeling of voyaging to the moon, I explored varied postures—from gazing down at the helmet to wearing it thoughtfully, and ultimately looking up toward the starry expanse. Throughout the entire process, we scouted suitable background light sources along the street, such as distant billboards and streetlamps, blurring them to construct a metropolitan nightscape rich with chiaroscuro. The color palette of this set leans cool while preserving warm highlights, and I hope it sparks cosmic daydreams while demonstrating another possibility for Anime-style photography in real-world settings.
