The Convention photos for this Wishadel cosplay are finally organized! Receiving the retouched photos from photographer Nan Yin, my initial impression was how dynamic and tense this costume looked under the lighting at the convention. Although the foot traffic at CPSP anime convention was massive, the overhead lighting in the spot we found that day had great texture. Paired with the depth of the venue, it brought out the patent leather texture and the prop's sharpness impeccably.
Regarding this outfit, the overall red-and-black colorway combined with a techwear design was truly eye-catching walking around the event. The jacket utilizes a high-gloss black patent leather material, paired with expansive red-and-black color-blocking on the shoulders and frayed edge designs of feathers and tassels, which generated a very natural dynamic flow when walking. The leather strapping across the chest and waist was the visual focal point of this look; after adjusting and fastening their positions repeatedly, we ensured the structure wouldn't deform even during large movements at the venue. The inner top and hot pants were made of the same material. The metal thigh cuffs and strapping system inevitably required continuous tightness adjustments during long periods of standing, but for the final visual result, fine-tuning these details was totally worth it.
The wig was chosen in a silver-white tone, deliberately thinned out with layered sidelocks to make it look crisper and full of airy texture. The red horn headpiece atop was the crowning touch echoing the costume's colors, and this striking shape was easily caught by the lenses of passersby and photographers at the convention. For props, I held a dagger featuring a red-orange gradient metallic reflective blade; it had a satisfyingly heavy, substantial weight in hand, which helped amplify expressiveness in various poses. For makeup, I chose to emphasize the eyeliner and gaze—red-brown contact lenses paired with sharp eye makeup and dark lipstick made facial contours clearer, preserving three-dimensional facial definition under the cool overhead lights of the venue.
Photographer Nan Yin shot four distinct compositions this time, each exuding a completely unique feel. The first standing pose tested upright posture—standing firmly with the left hand naturally raised aimed to present a relaxed yet vigilant, confident state. The second low-angle crouching shot carried strong impact, with the forward blade strike looking powerfully imposing under wide-angle perspective. The fourth half-kneeling pose let the skirt hem and decorative straps drape across the floor, brimming with storytelling alongside my gaze. However, if I had to pick the most satisfying shot best suited for the cover, it would definitely be the third photo seated on the high stool.
The third photo's overall composition is grounded and stable; in the seated pose, leg lines extended naturally, and paired with the snug fit of the dark leather hot pants, the visual focus fell effortlessly upon the outfit's layered styling. Moreover, this angle captured the proportions of the top and bottom perfectly, with red, blue, and black ribbons draping naturally to create a textural contrast against the glossy patent leather. Furthermore, Nan Yin paid close attention to lens reflections and highlights on the white hair when lighting, allowing this image to embody the unique atmosphere of this specific style even without complex environmental setups.
Although the convention day was indeed exhausting—wearing leather belts and straps for hours, with the wig getting stuffy under overhead lights—being able to walk the floor in such a complete Wishadel cosplay, chat with fellow fans face-to-face, and receive such high-quality Convention photos transformed all the effort into pure fulfillment. Especially in the complex lighting environment of the hall, which easily creates harsh dark shadows, Nan Yin controlled the exposure steadily, preserving the reflective texture of the patent leather while turning the hall's overhead lights into gorgeous wide-aperture bokeh without letting the background distract from the subject.
