[Chihaya Anon Cosplay] Sailor Suit Adventure Brushed by the Sea Breeze: A BanG Dream! Location Shoot Log

Standing by the pier, the pinwheel in my hand kept spinning in the sea breeze, making me feel that this location shoot truly brought out little Anon's innocent charm to the fullest. Although the post title cried about not wanting rain, the actual shooting day turned out to be perfectly sunny; the sunlight made my hat scorching hot, but that was exactly how we captured that clean, translucent Japanese seaside atmosphere.

This time, I chose a sailor suit uniform dominated by a blue-and-white color palette, paired with her iconic pink wig styled in double braided tails, and meticulously reproduced the blue ribbon details on the hat. The white sailor collar of the top and the pink neckerchief looked exceptionally refreshing under the sun, while the white pleated skirt, white over-the-knee stockings with blue stripes, and black chunky Mary Jane shoes created a highly unified color scheme that naturally exuded a youthful and energetic vibe. In truth, this costume demands a lot regarding details. To capture the natural fluttering motion of the skirt hem, we repeatedly tried out several angles on the breakwater steps and wooden benches.

The on-site environment was highly rich, spanning from moored fishing boats to orange traffic cones on the shore, and stretching out to the continuous hills and the azure sea surface in the distance. These elements are perfect for bringing out the character's everyday yet slightly adventurous temperament. During the shoot, to capture the most natural moments, aside from static sitting and crouching poses, I specially held the white pinwheel and spun around, or stood on one leg on the embankment to maintain balance. This dynamic snapshot process was actually quite a test of physical stamina, as the sea breeze frequently disrupted the styling of the pink wig, requiring an assistant to help me arrange the bangs at any moment. Furthermore, the light by the sea shifts rapidly; the light around 10:00 AM is the most translucent, but it is also extremely glaring. To avoid harsh shadows, we utilized the reflections from the concrete ground as fill light to ensure even illumination on my face.

In terms of composition, the photographer selected a wide aperture to moderately blur the background, highlighting the depth and layers of the character and costume. This was especially effective for the photo where I stood on the embankment, leaning forward slightly while holding my hat with one hand, which not only displayed the extended lines of the white stockings but also integrated the wide openness of the sea and sky into the frame. I also experimented with a posture sitting on a wooden bench, with my hands clasped on my knees, appearing relatively quiet to form a contrast with the liveliness of holding the pinwheel. The entire shooting process lasted about three hours; although the hat got a bit hot from the sun, seeing the crisp sea breeze brushing through my hair strands in the final images made all the exhaustion worth it.

This seaside location shoot made me realize more deeply that character reproduction isn't just about having the costume and wig in place, but more importantly, using body language to convey the character's naturally genki, slightly playful personality. For instance, occasionally looking up toward distant boats or pretending to play by the roadside adds narrative quality to the photos. Even though everyone says the seaside easily stains white stockings or coats shoe soles with grit, for the sake of the final photographic effects, I didn't care about these small issues at all. Huge thanks to the photographer for their patience, as well as the sun and sea breeze for helping complete those natural lighting effects, making this set of photos look like screenshots from a Japanese youth anime.
