I used a bit of clickbait for the title, but this is actually a serious piece of Cosplay photography, not an actual game asset rip or datamine from FINAL FANTASY VII or Final Fantasy VII Remake. The shoot took place indoors in front of a giant glass window, where the outdoor greenery projected inside through the glass. Combined with the lighting and post-production color grading, it formed this dim, cool green tone, which perfectly fits the slightly mysterious environmental atmosphere I envisioned.
To portray this character from Final Fantasy VII, a lot of effort went into the costume, makeup, and props this time. The core visual focus of this look is the white armor on the shoulders. To present that heavy, metallic luster texture, I specially customized this high-recreation shoulder armor. As everyone can see, the rivets and seam details on the edges of the armor are handled very finely; it needs to fit the curve of the shoulder when worn, requiring several adjustments to ensure it doesn't look clumsy in front of the lens. The inner black top features a deep V-neck cut paired with crisscross straps across the chest. The material chosen is a leather with a matte texture, which has the benefit of fitting the body to highlight muscle lines while avoiding cheap oily reflections under strong light.
Regarding the hairstyle, long straight silver hair is often quite difficult to manage in cosplay. This time, I did a lot of volumizing work at the hair roots to eliminate the plastic feel of the original wig, ensuring the bangs and the long hair on both sides drape naturally over my shoulders. Complemented by the soft light during the shoot, the edges of the hair strands reflect a silver sheen, creating a sharp contrast of light and dark with the black clothing and white armor.
For makeup, I focused on enhancing the eye contours, deepening the overall nose bridge shadows and facial structure, while combining it with a cool white-toned base to make my facial features look more three-dimensional and deep. In terms of gaze, I strove to be as restrained as possible, not deliberately projecting emotions, which conversely recreates the character's cold, sharp temperament.
The shooting venue was actually a very casual environment, but it cleverly utilized the natural greenery outside the window as a blurred background. The cool green image filter reduces ambient color clashing and enhances the character's own visual presence. The large areas of negative space and centered composition give the frame a formal feel akin to a commercial poster.
Doing this this time, although I mock myself for using clickbait to catch eyes, the actual results are well worth the early preparations. Cosplay is, after all, a tribute to the character; by putting heart into perfecting every single detail, the final photoshoot results will naturally not be bad.
