[Sakuya Izayoi cosplay] Touhou Project: Elegance and Dash

Sharing this official photoshoot set of Touhou Project Sakuya Izayoi cosplay. The location chosen was a cool-toned venue, utilizing overhead linear tube lights as background illumination, which perfectly suited the character's calm and composed temperament. The outfit design incorporated many patchwork elements: the white lace cuffs and lace mob cap leaned elegant, while the outer dark-green velvet top and black tactical vest added a touch of toughness, perfectly matching the Dark Gothic dashing aesthetic. The vest featured metal rings that offered great reflective texture during the shoot. The lower half was paired with fishnet Stockings, garters, and a white lace apron, creating rich visual layers. Before shooting, I spent considerable time styling the silver twin-tail wig, mainly adjusting the curve of the ends to make the braided pigtails look neat. To highlight the leg contours and fabric textures, I tried posing perched high up, leaning forward with one leg raised. This pose created an excellent elongated look in front of the lens, showcasing the pairing of the mesh Stockings with shorts, while leaning forward allowed the velvet bow and sapphire brooch at the neckline to be seen clearly. Angles were constantly adjusted throughout the shoot because white lace easily overexposes under strong lighting; after testing several metering points, we decided to deepen the surrounding shadows, preserving the cool porcelain tone of the skin and rendering the lace textures more delicately. In terms of gaze, we captured a slight downward-looking angle that matched the character's commanding aura. Putting on and taking off this gear was quite tedious, especially the laces and buckles on the back, but once worn, the overall effect was fantastic. Initially unsure of which poses to use, I tried semi-sitting on the props while gripping the mechanical blade props, having the photographer shoot from a low angle; this elongated the legs while clearly framing the mesh Stockings and thigh rings. While curating this set, I deliberately accentuated the shadow details of the darker garment areas while blurring background lines, keeping visual focus squarely on the subject. The silver hair, blue eyes, and cool fair skin popped strikingly against the dark background. We took many photos in total, selecting the ones with the most dynamic poses, including forward leans, backward glances, and bent-knee stances. We didn't use overly complicated props, relying mostly on camera angles and lighting to build the ambiance—keeping it grounded while preserving the character's crisp, sharp precision.
