[Dorothy Cosplay] Goddess of Victory: Nikke – Wig and Retouching Ramblings for the Pearl of Peach Blossom Look

I got lazy and bought a ready-stock wig with the wrong head circumference, so I had to Photoshop it heavily! I'm never being too lazy to trim and adjust wigs again—a truly painful lesson. For this Dorothy Pearl of Peach Blossom look, I actually put a lot of thought into makeup, hair, and costume, but because the wig arrived just the day before heading out, I thought I'd slack off and skip trimming its internal structure. As a result, the crown felt empty when wearing it, and no matter how I adjusted it, it didn't fit quite right. Fortunately, post-editing nowadays is powerful, and in the end, I managed to Photoshop out all those imperfections, saving the integrity of this photo set. But honestly, before going to an outdoor location, a core prop like a wig should never be compromised—leaving my painful experience right here.

Today, I primarily want to share details of this Pearl of Peach Blossom outfit. The overall palette is pink and white with a very soft, feminine style, fitting Dorothy's character aura that combines gorgeousness with a touch of dreaminess. The upper body collar features high-neck lace trimming accented by a large pink flower decoration at the neck, creating a distinct visual focal point. The chest area incorporates button patching with delicate ruffles, crafted from lightweight chiffon and semi-sheer mesh fabrics. The sleeves utilize sheer mesh splicing embroidered with 3D pink-and-white flower branches, making the whole garment look airy rather than bulky. Cutouts on the sides of the waist decorated with tassel pendants add a subtle touch of sexiness to the sweetness. The skirt on the lower body adopts an asymmetrical design, with a white bodycon under-skirt paired with a pink wavy ruffle train that flows effortlessly.

For this shoot, two locations were selected. For the outdoor location, I chose a terrace with modern industrial elements; metal railings and exposed concrete floors created a subtle contrast against the pink-and-white outfit. Although overcast that day, diffuse natural light proved very suitable for shooting such soft color tones without harsh shadows. Two props were prepared: a white lace-trimmed parasol and a pink-and-white floral folding fan. Opening the parasol served as an extension of the frame's composition, while holding the fan added elegance, especially with long pink ribbons dangling from the handle that infused plenty of dynamic movement into the shots.

For makeup, I intentionally enhanced a sweet and cute style. I wore a pair of grayish-blue contact lenses to complement the overall light-colored palette. Pale pink was used as the eyeshadow base with deepened outer corners and highlighted aegyo sal, making the eyes look bright yet pitifully endearing. Regarding hair styling, the bright pink wig itself had good texture; although the head circumference wasn't adjusted properly at the back, the front bangs and cowlick maintained great curves. 3D white flower hair accessories were affixed to both sides, echoing the floral prints on the garment.

There was a small hiccup during shooting when a sudden gust of wind almost blew the parasol away, so the moment in Photo 1 holding the parasol steadily was actually me trying hard to control my center of gravity. For the remaining half-body shots, we moved indoors; while taking selfies, I threw on a light-colored casual blazer over the dress. Although a bit eclectic over a gown, it unexpectedly had a cute sense of contrast.

Lately I've been truly obsessed with Nikke; its worldbuilding and artwork are super captivating, and I've developed a strong passion for this character in particular. After falling into a trap due to laziness this time, I decided that if I do more Nikke characters in the future, I must prepare all materials and props well in advance, taking things seriously right from the wig. While photography and post-editing are crucial, proper prep work gives true confidence in the final output. Although this Pearl of Peach Blossom look had minor regrets, I'm quite satisfied with the overall color grading and edited atmosphere—considering it a passing submission for myself as a cosplayer.
