Cosplaying Genshin Impact's Vesna at the ACG convention today, I was constantly invited for Taking photos with cosplayers at conventions from the moment I walked in this morning. Having just returned to the hotel, I finally have time to sort through today's pictures and share my styling insights.
First, regarding the experience of wearing this outfit: The wig was styled in advance, featuring pale blonde hair with light-blue gradient highlights. To maintain the bangs' curved shape, I was constantly adjusting the edges with my hands at the venue to prevent stray hairs from sticking to my face due to sweat. Fitting the Elf ears is quite a technical craft—it requires special skin wax and cosmetic adhesive to secure them along the rim of the ears. Wearing them for a long time made my ears feel a bit swollen and sore, but to stay true to the character's image, that little bit of discomfort was well worth it. The headdress is an assembly of metal and acrylic materials, encrusted with blue rhinestones in the center. While visually striking, it carries noticeable weight; wearing it all day certainly left my cervical spine aching, so during photos, I tried my best to keep my head upright to minimize strain on my neck.
In terms of makeup, to complement the bright blue contact lenses, I emphasized a reddish blend on the lower eyelids and drew distinct lower lashes so the eyes would retain clarity and depth under the venue's harsh overhead lights. For the base, I used a porcelain-toned foundation paired with highlights along the nose bridge and cheekbones, preventing facial features from appearing flat under direct illumination. The white mandarin collar and sapphire pendant necklace served as the visual centerpiece of the ensemble, layered underneath with a plush white fur shawl that not only enriched the costume's dimensionality but also helped maintain warmth in the heavily air-conditioned hall.
The turnout at ACG today was massive, and the venue was incredibly vibrant. From the moment I stepped inside, numerous photographers and fellow fans came over asking for Taking photos with cosplayers at conventions. I essentially stopped every ten minutes or so to pose for photos. When encountering especially courteous photographers, we would brainstorm compositions together—such as scouting a clean background to dodge the crowds or utilizing exhibition display boards to bounce light. One set taken beside a metal door was shot in a corner with exceptionally even lighting that perfectly accentuated my facial contours and hair color. When shooting two-person photos with other cosplayers, because both sides had voluminous headdresses, we had to stagger our stances slightly to prevent accessories from hooking into each other while keeping our faces directed toward the camera, which actually demanded a fair bit of physical coordination.
Walking around the venue, I paid close attention to the positioning of my skirt hem and shawl. Because the outfit includes metal accessories, moving without care could easily cause them to catch on passersby's backpack zippers or booth edges. Thus, before each step, I would lift my skirt slightly and verify that the surroundings were clear before proceeding. During mid-day touch-ups, I noticed slight melting around the nostrils from wearing a mask; a quick press with a pocket beauty sponge dabbed with compact powder and a cotton swab to clean up under-eye smudges ensured everything looked clean on camera.
I also chatted with several fellow cosplayers doing Fantasy style cosplay characters, exchanging tips on garment crafting and prop maintenance. We all agreed that outfits integrating metal and faux fur take the most time to pack, put on, and take off. Today was an overall deeply fulfilling experience; the atmosphere on site was fantastic, with everyone showing tremendous respect for characters and cosplay culture. This Vesna look took over half a month from preparation to completion; seeing the final shots and everyone's praise makes all the prior effort worthwhile. Moving forward, I will continue organizing more hall photos taken at ACG today alongside detail close-ups of the costume, hoping to offer helpful styling and shooting references for friends planning to cosplay this character.
