This location shoot for a Night portrait was chosen by the waterside on a winter night, specifically to match the atmosphere of this Winter outfit. The clothes are a pure white plush coat, with taro-purple plush borders spliced at the collar, cuffs, and hem, and a large purple bow tied at the waist. It has very good warmth and fits the character design well. The over-the-knee boots are a white lace-up style, and the platform design makes standing stably by the muddy waterside easier. The wig is trimmed with blunt bangs, with an ahoge standing out on top, paired with thin-rimmed glasses, and the makeup highlights the brightness of the eye area.
The shooting time lasted from dusk until night. In the evening before it was completely dark, the blue-gray sky and water reflections provided a great cold-toned background. I held a Sparkler in my hand, and when the sparks flew everywhere, the photographer used a large-aperture lens to capture many background light spots, creating a very strong sense of atmosphere. Later, when it became completely dark, we lit the ground fountain fireworks, and the fire instantly illuminated the texture of the clothing and the contours of the face. To capture the most agile moments, the photographer told me not to stand still, allowing me to do actions like jumping, turning, or reaching out. The fourth picture was a snapshot after a run-up and jump, with the coat hem spreading out and hair flying, perfectly paired with the fireworks behind, full of dynamic feel.
Night outdoor shooting is actually quite cold, and the wind by the waterside is strong, but this plush coat is very thick, resisting the cold wind to a certain extent. Because the clothes are relatively heavy and body movements are easily restricted, when posing, I would intentionally increase the range of movements, such as raising my arms and jumping, to make the picture look more lively. The posture of holding the Sparkler requires wrist strength to prevent ash from falling on the clothes, while the eyes should look at the fire or the lens. The fountain fireworks made a loud noise when lit, and the light ratio changed very quickly, requiring communication with the photographer in advance about metering and shutter speed to capture clear photos of both the fireworks and the person.
The color tone of this photoshoot is unified between cool blue and warm yellow. The cold-toned environment contrasts with the warm-toned fireworks, highlighting the subject. Although doing Anime cosplay outdoors is hard, seeing every light spot and strand of hair in the final photos turn out just right makes everything feel worthwhile. This combination is indeed a good choice for outdoor shoots in winter, preserving the character's traits while considering practical wearability.
