To faithfully capture the languid yet aloof disposition of Hsin from Wuthering Waves, this studio shoot involved meticulous preparation in both styling and set design. The wig was specifically chosen with a gradient transitioning from silver-gray to deep black, offering a natural flow and hair texture; the enormous fox ears perched on top required repeated trimming and reinforcement to maintain their dimensional, upright silhouette. The makeup centered on bold red eyeshadow and a forehead bindi mark, paired with red contact lenses to endow the gaze with a sharp, penetrating edge. To complete the fox spirit archetype, the voluminous, fluffy white tail behind me was ingeniously mounted, ensuring it could spread out organically whether I was seated or reclining sideways.
The wardrobe is a Japanese-style fantasy creation weaving together four tones: red, black, white, and gold. The off-the-shoulder cut pairs with a black bandeau and gold chain links, accented along the sleeves and skirt hem with plush white faux-fur trim. Tiered layers of crimson fabric are printed with intricate golden damask patterns, anchored by tassels cascading from the waist for rich visual depth. To accentuate the tailoring, I adjusted the undergarments to guarantee that the garment retained its structural crispness before the lens while naturally flattering body lines.
For the set, wooden Japanese folding screens behind the backdrop established the foundational ambiance. We arranged pink cherry blossom branches and purple-blue floral blossoms to deepen spatial perspective, alongside bringing in an oversized red folding fan as the primary stage prop. The fan's crimson surface echoed my red attire, while the white plum blossom motifs upon it carried classical poise. Embracing this mood, I reclined on a wooden chaise with the folding fan cushioned behind me. Before the lens, I explored varied poses: the first two shots focused on resting fingertips gently against my cheek while leaning slightly forward to spotlight facial expressions and upper-body details; for the final shot, I leaned back, naturally crossing and raising my legs with one hand resting against the wooden armrest. This elongated stance showcased the fluid drape of the skirt and leg contours while letting the fluffy tail fan out organically within the frame.
Throughout the session, light grazing the red fabric and silver hair produced gorgeous specular highlights, posing quite a test for camera metering. The photographer and I continually repositioned the bounce boards to ensure no unwanted facial shadows while preserving the metallic sheen of the gold ornaments. Because of the sheer number of accessories, dynamic movement risked misaligning parts, requiring a quick check of ear angles and tail placement with every pose change. Though the process was painstaking, seeing the immaculate balance of light, shadow, and color in the finished cuts made every careful adjustment feel worthwhile. This set represents a unique creative departure in color and atmosphere, and I hope this visual fusion of oriental aesthetics and fantasy elements brings everyone a refreshing experience.
