[Xishi cosplay] Honor of Kings Xishi Continuing Mutual Longing cosplay: Portraying a Gentle Goddess in Pink and Orange Tulle

Bringing this Honor of Kings Xishi Continuing Mutual Longing cosplay to life took considerable effort, from the initial styling concept to the final shoot. Xishi inherently possesses a pure, agile grace, and the Continuing Mutual Longing design leans visually toward a harmonious blend of myth and ethereal beauty. To recreate this atmosphere, adjusting the position of the wig and headpieces alone took nearly two hours during makeup styling. The pale blonde wig required fluffy yet orderly styling, and the dual hair buns were adorned with red ribbons alongside a gorgeous, openwork golden crown. The sheer weight on my head combined with the need to stay effortless on camera was quite the test for my neck.

The outfit is richly layered. Broad sweeps of gradient orange-pink tulle meet a crisp white corset and gold-trimmed sleeves. From afar, it radiates a soft, warm tone; up close, delicate gold stamping embroidery and silver leaf accents come into view. To ensure the best visual texture, we steam-ironed the costume right before shooting so that every single layer of tulle shimmered cleanly under the lights. The orange lotus prop in my hand was the finishing touch—its translucent petals glowed softly under the lighting, echoing the character's overall palette perfectly.

The studio set leaned into an Oriental fantasy aesthetic, featuring ornate screens, warm yellow lanterns, pink cherry blossom branches, and red maple leaves. For gear, we used a Fujifilm X-S10 paired with a 27mm f/1.2 lens. The creamy bokeh from the wide aperture seamlessly melted away the cluttered background, drawing focus entirely to facial expressions and garment details. Warm lighting cast against the translucent tulle gave the skin a remarkably delicate finish. Photographer Niu Niu was wonderful at guiding expressions; for instance, in the shot where I reached out toward the camera, foreground blur enhanced the depth between my hand and the lotus, adding vivid dimension to the frame.

As a cosplayer who loves exploring varied styles, what I enjoyed most was conveying emotion through body language. Without bulky props, my movements felt free and expressive. Whether turning back while seated on a wooden chair or gently bowing my head with the lotus in hand, it demanded a specific inner charm—neither overly strained nor excessively slack. To channel that mythical allure, I maintained subtle facial expressions and focused my gaze slightly below the lens, creating an ethereal sense of distance.

The entire shoot flowed smoothly thanks to strong teamwork across lighting, calibration, and execution. Notably, to keep the tulle skirt looking streamlined while seated, we used concealed pins beneath the fabric to ensure clean visual lines. Completing a project I love always feels like a fleeting journey into another realm. From composition and lighting quality to every wardrobe nuance, it represents the collective polish of the whole team. I hope this warm, pink-orange set delivers that enchanting aesthetic to everyone.
