[Yidhari Cosplay] Octopus Girl in Zenless Zone Zero: Sci-Fi Vibes in a Stack of Retro TVs

For this Zenless Zone Zero Yidhari cosplay photoshoot, the overall visual focus was placed on the striking contrast between retro cyberpunk and anime girl aesthetics. In terms of props, that exaggeratedly large purple inflatable octopus tail was definitely the soul of the entire look. To give it both volume and realistic rubbery reflections, we spent a lot of effort beforehand adjusting the inflation level and placement angles. Paired with the long staff, it perfectly recreated the character's lazy yet slightly mechanical vibe.

In terms of outfit, the two-piece white top and detachable sleeves really test one's body proportions. Combined with the signature black shorts, leg ring, and over-the-knee black stockings, it elongates the overall silhouette beautifully. I specifically want to mention the material of the black stockings—we chose a fabric with a subtle sheen for the studio shoot. Under the specific purple-blue lighting, it creates a great color harmony with the purple tail behind. To get closer to the character's traits, the makeup emphasizes a red gradient blend at the outer corners of the eyes, paired with the Ahoge on top and the crescent hair accessory, making the facial contours look more delicate and three-dimensional.

For the location, we specially chose an indoor studio filled with industrial elements. Stacks of old CRT TVs were arranged in a staggered layout, with reflections on their casings and bright white screens forming a fantastic foreground. Among the final shots from various angles, I highly recommend photo #2 as the cover. For that shot, we chose a composition leaning against the TV stack, with both elbows naturally resting on the top edge of an old TV and the body's center of gravity slightly lowered. This not only looks relaxed and fluid, but also best showcases the chest pendant, camisole, and leg curves accentuated by the black stockings—offering a rich visual experience without feeling cluttered.

There was actually a lot of prep work before the shoot. For instance, the long staff required precise balance adjustments to ensure it wouldn't fall over whether held in one hand or leaning against the ground. The various cables and vintage boxes in the set were also meticulously arranged. To complement the cool-toned light sources of the scene, we set up purple-blue and cyan lights on the side and back, allowing the halo from the TV screens to perfectly illuminate the face and the metallic texture of the accessories.

In capturing the character's personality, I tried to lean into a slightly lazy, nonchalant yet confident tone. There was no need for overly dramatic poses—sometimes a simple glance or a leaning posture was enough to convey that unique attitude. Once the props and costume were ready, communication with the photographer during the shoot became crucial. By constantly fine-tuning the positioning and camera angles, we aimed to highlight body proportions while seamlessly integrating the retro tech vibe of the background. After several shutter clicks, the real challenge wasn't the posing, but ensuring we didn't pull on that massive inflatable tail, allowing it to coil behind in its most natural and soft state. The final result turned out quite satisfying, and I hope it brings a fresh visual experience to everyone who loves this look and style!
