[Eleg cosplay] Goddess of Victory: NIKKE Retro Christmas Photoshoot

The core of this shoot was blending a Christmas theme with vintage elements, requiring plenty of thought from makeup design to finding the right props. To match Eleg's character design, I wore this red and white Christmas costume. The main outfit is crafted from velvet with a wonderful texture, which, combined with the striking heart-shaped cutout and black leather straps, beautifully outlined the body silhouette. The black cutout on the chest also created a nice warm-and-cool contrast with the brass tone of the Vintage gramophone. The white plush neck warmer and oversized furry arm warmers enhanced the cozy winter holiday vibe while creating a sharp contrast against the cold metal props. For styling, short blonde hair with yellow-green highlights, purple contact lenses, and a lip piercing accessory elevated the overall detail.

The set was intentionally decorated with a vintage wooden bookshelf and a Christmas tree strung with warm fairy lights. The Vintage gramophone in my hands was the centerpiece prop; its brass horn offered great reflective sheen under the lights, harmonizing with the dark wooden base to build a rich atmosphere. Choosing tilted high and low angles during framing helped highlight the cutout design and body lines, giving the frame a three-dimensional depth, while the large horn and hand crank added an oil-painting-like vintage touch.

Regarding lighting, we emphasized the textural contrast between metallic surfaces and plush fabrics to recreate an authentic visual feel. I tried several poses to showcase different angles: the first photo clearly displays the heart cutout and the plush sleeves' texture, while the second focuses on the contrast between leg lines and the gramophone horn. The first photo was ultimately selected as the cover because of its balanced composition, centered subject, rich visible details, and clean layout free of distracting text.

The shoot was somewhat physically demanding since this Christmas costume is relatively thick, and surrounded by light strings and props, I had to constantly watch for fabric creases. Nonetheless, the final results met my expectations perfectly. To enhance the atmosphere, I adjusted the lighting angles before shooting to carve out clearer subject silhouettes and accentuate the distinct sheens of plush and metal. Both styling and props were well prepared, and I hope viewers can feel the on-set vibe through these photos. In cosplay, maintaining eye contact and a relaxed posture is crucial, so I stayed as natural as possible before the lens while adapting to dynamic framing.

Every cosplay shoot feels like experiencing a different chapter of life, and portraying Eleg was truly enjoyable. I checked every strap on the costume to ensure a proper fit and optimal on-camera presentation. I love this immersive shooting process and look forward to delving deeper into each character. In post-processing, I preserved natural color tones without over-editing, relying on on-set control of light and props to elevate the visual quality. Combining a festive Christmas style with a vintage, elegant backdrop created a harmonious scene, making this one of my most satisfying recent shoots. The crux of this look lies in the character's demeanor and prop interaction, so I used my gaze to project a slightly aloof aura, balancing the inherent sweetness of the plush outfit. From lighting to composition, costume to props, every step aimed for perfection.
