[Yachiyo Cosplay] Cosmic Princess Kaguya! at the Summer Waterside: The Cool Ambiance of a Pure White Swimsuit

For this fan-concept swimsuit photoshoot of Yachiyo, choosing the summer waterside at the end of the season was intended to capture a rare sense of refreshment under the intense sun. When I received this white halter-style swimsuit, I imagined its visual effect in sunlight. Combining high-purity white with silver-white long hair nicely counterbalances the yellow-green background tones of the outdoor environment, giving the character a cooler, more refreshing aura.

The makeup for this shoot was kept relatively light, following a minimalist approach. The focus was on highlighting the blue contact lenses and outlining the eyes, paired with a subtle reddish lip color to recreate the character's lively yet slightly languid charm. To prevent the pure white look from feeling monotonous, a pink gradient was intentionally kept along the edges of the wig, creating a highly recognizable visual anchor against the blue sky and green hills. When styling the hair, I paid special attention to the fullness of the top bun and the natural drape of the long locks on both sides, mimicking the airy texture of hair blowing in the wind.

Sunlight on the shoot day was indeed a bit dazzling, but the clear blue sky and white clouds made the entire outdoor setting bright and vivid. The photographer emphasized using natural light to highlight delicate skin texture, so we spent the shoot adjusting positions and angles under strong UV rays. We first selected a beach lounge chair as the foreground; the first set focused on a relaxed seated posture on the chair, stretching my legs out naturally to convey a leisurely vacation mood. To enhance interactivity with the audience, I made a gesture leaning forward with my hand stretched out, which not only accentuated my arm lines but also deepened the sense of depth in the frame.

Next, we moved to the safety guardrail by the summer waterside. The wooden posts and rope structures helped break up the large, monotonous area of water in the background. The pink plush toy prop I prepared came in handy for these poses; holding it in my arms or by my side provided just the right pop of bright color while effectively easing my minor stiffness in front of the camera. Shooting by the lake requires focus because strong gusts of wind can easily mess up the wig, but conversely, wind-blown hair strands gave the photos a lively, airy feel.

It was a real honor to work with the photographer this time. Their lens captured colors accurately, and white balance control restored natural skin tones exceptionally well without overexposed highlights or crushed shadows. In terms of camera angles, we experimented with medium close-ups, wide shots, and tight close-ups. I personally favor several half-body close-up compositions that used a straw-hat-holding hand as a visual guide, focusing attention on hair strands, facial expressions, and interactions with the prop.

After completing this entire swimsuit cosplay set, despite spending most of the day outdoors, seeing the final clean images made everything feel completely worthwhile. The crisp texture, soft light and shadow, and prop coordination were just right, transporting the character into a relaxed, cozy summer vacation setting. This kind of plotless, everyday-style cosplay photography really tests styling completeness and the model's condition. While retaining the character's core traits, choosing a suitable fan-concept swimsuit to convey a lifestyle vibe—different from her usual combat setting—was a great attempt to show another side of Cosmic Princess Kaguya!'s Yachiyo. I am very satisfied with this collaboration, and through this work, I have left a unique summer light-and-shadow memory of my own.
