For this annual Mumu Cosplay photoshoot, I ultimately chose a summer forest surrounded by hydrangea clusters. The large areas of green vegetation and pink-purple flower clusters in the environment share a very high compatibility with the color scheme of Thunder in the Azure Dream, so I was exceptionally inspired right from the location scouting.
Regarding this look, the pale golden long hair is a signature trait of Muelsyse, so I used a very smooth, high-quality wig to recreate that silky texture. The headpiece includes green leaves, pink-orange small flowers on both sides, and a golden fan-shaped hair accessory at the back; these combined details add a touch of forest-elf-like agility to the character. The costume features a minimalist white outer robe paired with dark trim, and this clean, sharp tailoring is perfectly suited to restore the character's peaceful and elegant temperament.
The natural light on the day of the shoot was amazing; soft sunlight filtered down through the forest foliage, forming beautiful dappled light and shadow. In the composition, I intentionally used the foreground green leaves and hydrangeas as a natural frame, enclosing the subject within this greenery. This not only highlighted the white of the costume but also allowed the person to blend seamlessly with the surrounding environment. For the posture during the shoot, I deliberately chose a more relaxed gaze with downcast eyes, paired with a slightly curled hand gesture, hoping to convey that indifferent yet subtly gentle aura inherent to the character.
However, although the shooting process went very smoothly, the post-processing definitely required a lot of effort. I genuinely spent the entire evening editing just this single photo, but that is more than enough for me. During the post-processing color grading, I intentionally lowered the yellow-green hues of the overall image to make the green lean toward a translucent, forest-like texture, while preserving that translucent feel of natural light hitting the skin and clothing. Actually, the editing process is not just about managing the details of light and shadow, but also an experience of re-examining my own emotions. Seeing the frame finally manifest that imagined sense of serenity makes the evening's dedicated effort fully rewarding.
Rather than chasing quantity, I value quality more. The artistic conception of this Thunder in the Azure Dream look is a perfect fit for this kind of cool, nature-infused outdoor setting. Therefore, when polishing this photo, I repeatedly adjusted the tones and sharpness to ensure that every section's texture could withstand magnification. The transitions of light and shadow, the texture of the hair strands, and the color cast of the white fabric under ambient light were all carefully balanced during this editing session.
Although only one formal photo was produced from this Cosplay photoshoot, its level of completion is enough for me to include it in this year's annual best-of selection. Whenever I see that quiet and distant atmosphere in the frame, I feel as if that elf character adorned with plant decorations is right before my eyes. This sense of fulfillment is exactly the most precious part of every outdoor shoot turnout.
