Today's shoot features Ichigaya Arisa's Poppin'Party stage uniform cosplay. The wig styling was truly one of the core focal points this time; to recreate Arisa's natural blonde hair infused with an ojou-sama elegance, I spent considerable time grooming and shaping it. The blonde wig naturally had great density, and the blonde ringlets at the tips were curled section by section using a curling iron before being textured by hand. The blunt bangs across the forehead were lightly set with hairspray, leaving a few face-framing wisps along the edges. The two black cross clips on her head, while seemingly simple, required symmetrical and organic positioning as an iconic character hallmark. As for the eye makeup, brown colored contacts were chosen to match her eye color, layered over a warm earth-toned base shadow. The main focus was placed on defining the aegyo sal, highlighting the lower lids to give her gaze extra sparkle. Duster blush was swept relatively high against a soft porcelain base, capturing Arisa's girlish tsundere charm that hides a sweet heart beneath a prickly exterior.
Regarding the costume, the brown tailored uniform blazer has a crisp, structured texture, layered over a crisp white shirt collar and a red bow tie. The metallic button details on the blazer were also crafted with great care. The cuffs are white, accented with delicate black line trims. Because the shoot took place inside a car where space was tight, I opted for a cozy, lifestyle-oriented pose. Resting my right index finger gently against my chin with the corners of my mouth softly curved while looking toward the lens effectively conveyed her personality. Truthfully, wearing such a substantial uniform while buckled into a seatbelt severely limited my range of motion. Fortunately, the natural light streaming through the car window was lovely—casting soft, flattering gradations across my face that needed no extra fill light to produce great texture. Friction inside the car easily built static in the wig, requiring me to smooth down stray hairs every few shots. Overall, cosplaying Ichigaya Arisa was a delightful experience that cleanly preserved her playful charm on camera.
Before embodying a character, I usually pore over official artwork and animation cuts repeatedly, closely noting micro-expressions they might show in daily life. Arisa often appears stubborn and prickly within Poppin'Party, but deep down she retains a vulnerable, sweet side. When snapping selfies, I avoided aggressive or overly cloying poses in favor of a relaxed state. The gesture of resting a finger beside my chin was something I stumbled upon during test shots; it conveys a thoughtful, slightly inquiring mood that, combined with the aegyo sal makeup, ensures instant character recognition without feeling stiff.
On the wig's finer details, beyond the core blonde ringlets, I padded the back of the crown slightly to give the head a fuller, rounder shape, enhancing the three-dimensional presence of the cross hair clips. The cross clips were custom-welded from bobby pins, positioned at a slight natural tilt rather than strictly vertical. Though just a casual selfie, every step from initial makeup prep to mastering the lighting inside the vehicle demanded patience. Watching myself gradually align with the character in the lens is the most captivating aspect of cosplay. As window lighting shifted, I snapped multiple sets to capture the golden hour, finally selecting this frame with the most satisfying expression and framing. I hope this Ichigaya Arisa cosplay conveys her vivacious spirit; given future opportunities, I would love to explore richer settings at conventions or photo studios.
