Because the dark-toned fabric with golden patterns has a high specular reflectance under overhead lights, controlling the lighting was our main focus during this Blanc: White Rabbit cosplay shoot from Goddess of Victory: Nikke. The costume features wide Japanese-style clothing sleeves; to achieve dramatic tension in a single-knee kneeling pose, I shifted my center of gravity, pressing one leg flat against the floor to showcase leg lines, which, paired with Black stockings, created a striking visual elongation.
The silver-white wig was surprisingly heavy, and pinning the bangs at an angle that wouldn't obstruct the eyes took quite a bit of effort and numerous bobby pins to secure. To channel the character's slightly aloof composure, sharp eyeliner was paired with cool-toned lighting to sculpt crisp facial contours.
During the on-site shoot, the voluminous sleeves easily fanned out when moving freely. To maintain an elegant, draped silhouette in motion, I had to keep my arms raised through multiple sequences, leaving my arms genuinely sore. The venue floor was rock hard, and dropping down onto one knee bruised slightly; nevertheless, to impeccably display the golden embroidery and overall body proportions, I endured it to keep my posture poised and upright. Fortunately, the unedited raw frames turned out fantastic.
The convention environment was crowded and cluttered, so dodging passing crowds required lowering camera perspectives and carefully adjusting framing angles. Dark navy fabrics and golden patterns easily lose detail in shadows, so we tested multiple angles to catch light directly across the prints. Tassels and accessories at the waist required constant untangling to avoid snagging on the dress.
Post-processing avoided exaggerated color grading, preserving the cool, crisp ambient lighting to harmonize with her aloof demeanor. Overall, this Anime cosplay photoshoot was a deeply rewarding and satisfying creative endeavor.
