[Yae Miko Cosplay] Genshin Impact: Pink Romance Under a Custom Formal Dress in Sakura Setting

Planning this custom Yae Miko photoshoot actually involved extensive preparation focused on the color contrast between "pink" and "white." Compared to the official design, a custom design gave me more freedom to experiment with outfit and hair/makeup styling. I chose a pure white strapless Custom formal dress, paired with a delicate white lace choker and translucent lace gloves. Set against the long pink hair, this effectively neutralized any overly sweet feel of the pink, adding a touch of softness and ethereal elegance. The wig was specifically chosen for its fluffy and layered style, decorated on both sides with exquisite white flowers and golden tassel pendants to give the hairstyle a fuller silhouette, echoing the inherent magnificence and mysterious aura of Lady Yae.

The shoot took place right during peak bloom, and the beauty of location shooting lies in how naturally falling petals are captured in unrepeatable moments. Photographer Shiwang captured many instances of gentle breezes blowing pink petals down from above. In terms of composition, we intentionally utilized blurred petals in the foreground and sweeping pink flower trees in the background, using a wide aperture to soften cluttered branches into gorgeous color blocks, preserving a breathable depth of field. During the photoshoot, the pink rose bouquet in my hands served as an essential visual centerpiece; it not only seamlessly linked color-wise with the wig and backdrop, but also added a romantic narrative touch to this look featuring bridal gown elements.

For makeup, to complement the purple-blue contact lenses, the eye makeup didn't use overly heavy colors; instead, I blended soft, translucent pinks and earth tones, choosing a long-lasting peach-toned lip tint. This light-makeup approach allowed facial features to stand out three-dimensionally within the fresh environment without getting overwhelmed by background colors. Meanwhile, details of the choker and lace were best highlighted during backlit close-up shots.

Regarding prop details, I intentionally chose pink roses with green leaf bases rather than plain all-pink artificial flowers, as the texture of real plants offers richer visual layers through the camera lens. During the shoot, we did encounter adjustments—such as cherry blossom distribution and rapidly changing natural light—but interaction and communication on set were very smooth. We experimented with scenic angles looking in different directions and captured moments of gazing directly into the camera with a gentle, natural smile. I believe Yae Miko's characteristic composure, elegance, and occasional playfulness can be displayed in a different dimension through this Custom formal dress with a bridal gown feel. Shedding her intricate combat gear or traditional miko outfit, this more relaxed, dreamlike look actually makes it easier for her aura to merge with authentic spring scenery.

Prior to the Cosplay photoshoot, we chose appropriate focal lengths based on the venue. Photographer Shiwang used a telephoto/portrait lens to compress the background, making distant flower trees appear denser as broad pink color blocks rather than sparse blossoms. To achieve the high-key, soft, dreamlike effect seen in the photos, we deliberately chose diffuse light on a cloudy day, avoiding harsh, direct sunlight that creates over-exposed highlights and hard shadows. This soft light brightened skin tones effectively while giving the pink wig a soft luster. For post-processing color grading, we decided to preserve the environment's original tones, making only slight color balance and contrast adjustments so the pink environment felt purer and the white formal dress popped without looking muddy. The essence of this Custom formal dress lies in the word "custom"—it's not a direct copy of official game art, but a look designed according to character personality and baseline aesthetics suitable for real-world visual appreciation. Yae Miko's aura in Genshin Impact is clever and composed; combining this trait with pink-toned coordination and bridal texture creates a serene romance like "meeting under blooming flowers," which I hope translates fully into the final images.
