When shooting this Minato Yukina cosplay, I focused heavily on practicing my gaze. Capturing that distinct melancholy in her eyes—one so profound that peers could hardly grasp it—was truly the most crucial nuance to master. As the lead vocalist of Roselia, her aura of detachment born from extreme dedication to music, coupled with an alienation from carrying heavy expectations, needed to be conveyed through her eyes. In terms of makeup, to evoke this deep yet slightly weary melancholy, I used enlarging light-brown contact lenses paired with pink-purple eyeshadow slightly down-turned at the outer corners, lending a softer, more wistful expression. For the wig, I selected a pale lilac-pink shade and spent considerable time styling the blunt bangs to keep them sleek, ensuring the long purple hair fell naturally along the cheeks to frame the face and capture an ethereal, otherworldly feel. For the outfit, I chose a blue-and-white Lolita dress; the lace cuffs, delicate neckline, silver butterfly hairpin, and light blue ribbons establish an overall cool tone. I intentionally chose a restaurant bar counter as the backdrop: the stainless steel kitchenware and casual red chairs created a striking contrast with the intricate attire, emphasizing her detachment from everyday reality. During the shoot, I rested my chin on my hand, turned slightly away from the frame, relaxed my facial muscles, and let my gaze drift. To sustain this aloof state, I avoided talking during the shoot and immersed myself completely in the character's psyche. That cool exterior is ultimately a protective shell—unapproachable on the surface, but intensely resolute and delicate within. Through this photo set, I was able to articulate this unique melancholy, deepening my understanding of the character.
