[Suzuran Cosplay] Arknights Snow scene Shoot: A Dream Fulfilled Even After Dark

By the time we arrived at the torii gate, the sky had already darkened. The original plan was to finish shooting in the afternoon when natural light was at its best. However, due to various delays along the way, we reached the venue right before nightfall and had to start shooting hastily without time to adjust. The temperature in the snow was far colder than expected; stepping in the snow was not only freezing, but also threatened to dampen the black-and-red pleated skirt hem.

The overall construction of this outfit is quite complex, especially the massive fox tails behind me. Walking and crouching in the snow made it easy for them to catch snow, and their substantial weight meant constantly readjusting their placement so they would fan out naturally. To recreate the character's delicate grace, the costume and prop preparation took considerable time. The pink outer robe and white apron carried a rich, heavy texture, while the red cord knotting details and the fox ears on my head were custom-crafted. The red oil-paper umbrella stood out strikingly against the backdrop of the Snow scene and wooden architecture, serving not only to shelter against wind and snow, but also acting as a wonderful visual leading line in the Japanese style composition.

Due to the lack of ambient light, shooting at night relied heavily on artificial lighting setups. Because the snow itself has strong reflectivity, we had to lower the light intensity to balance the contrast between the sky and the subject, focusing on carving out facial expressions and costume details. Throughout the shoot, I needed to maintain the character's poised demeanor while actively communicating positions and angles with the photographer. Fortunately, the resulting photos turned out ideal. Though it was only a brief one-hour shoot, opening a red umbrella in a snow-covered Shinto shrine while gazing through the layered torii gates truly allowed me to experience the character's essence in the winter cold. It brought this long-awaited project to a fulfilling conclusion and created a truly memorable set of photos.
