[Komi Shoko cosplay] Komi Can't Communicate Red Qipao cosplay Convention Photos

The Convention photos from this convention have finally been edited, featuring Komi Shoko cosplay. A lot of thought went into this red silk qipao with gold floral patterns, from fabric selection to custom tailoring. The sheen of the real silk fabric looked stunning under the venue's overhead lighting. With short sleeves, a mandarin collar, and frog buttons, the tailored waistline perfectly accentuated my silhouette. To closely match the character, trimming the wig took a long time; the straight blunt bangs and side strands had to be meticulously groomed, paired with a string of pearl hair accessories on the bun. The natural drape of the Long straight black hair cosplay really captured the right vibe. For props, I chose a black folding fan featuring white bamboo leaves and dragonflies, where the black ribs created a striking red-and-black contrast against the red qipao.

Since I was both the cosplayer and my own post-processor this time, I had already planned the framing in my head beforehand. The convention floor was crowded with complex lighting, requiring careful angles for the key light to bring out the reflective texture of the gold floral prints on the garment. When testing the light with my partner beforehand, we found that flat frontal lighting flattened the dimensional contours of the qipao, so we ultimately chose rim/side backlighting to make facial shadow transitions much more natural. In Photo 2, holding the number 4 sign was a fun little on-site interactive prop; crossing my arms over my chest kept my shoulder and neck posture tall and upright. Photo 3 is my personal favorite: with the folding fan half-concealing my face and eyes gazing straight into the camera, it preserved that aloof, socially anxious charm from Komi Can't Communicate with just a hint of cautious curiosity.

For the makeup, I kept it relatively straightforward, mainly emphasizing deep eye contouring. I wore blue contact lenses to enhance eye focus, and kept the base foundation matte to prevent shine and oil under the convention heat. For the lips, I selected a low-saturation nude shade to match the overall demeanor. Throughout the shoot, I maintained slightly lowered eyelids and reserved, cool facial expressions, offering only brief, subtle eye contact when interacting. This restrained sense of boundary gave the final photos even more dynamic tension.

The shooting pace was actually very fast because convention shooting time is limited, requiring quick background scouting and dodging passersby. The delicate fabric of this outfit snags easily, so I had to be extra cautious when moving and posing. Post-processing mainly corrected the messy color temperature caused by the venue's overhead lights, preserving the rich crimson of the qipao and the intricate gold thread details. Looking back on the whole experience, this styling was highly recognizable in the convention environment, and incorporating the black folding fan gave the entire look a sharper, more dramatic edge.
