[Salter cosplay] Fate/Grand Order Midsummer Swimsuit Photoshoot Record

The photos from this midsummer Salter swimsuit studio shoot are finally ready. To embrace the summer theme, I selected this black one-piece skirted swimsuit. Designed with a halter neck and ruffled pleated collar, it features a teardrop-shaped keyhole cutout on the chest, complemented by detached black ruffled sleeves on the upper arms. The tailored fit hugs the silhouette closely, while the double-layered ruffled hem adds an airy, floating flutter with every movement. For props, I brought a large clear inflatable swim ring detailed with wide white stripes, fine silver glitter, and pale blue handles, creating a striking visual contrast against the black swimwear.

For hair and makeup, staying true to Salter's design, I wore a pale platinum-blonde wig with blunt, thick bangs in front and a longer sidelock on the left to frame the face. The back was tied into a high ponytail featuring subtle braided roots and secured with a black bow hair accessory. The makeup focused on deepening the eye contours with dense false lashes paired with grey-blue contact lenses, maintaining a composed, focused stare directly into the lens.

This studio shoot was captured against a seamless pure white cyclorama. The lighting used an even, soft blend of top and frontal fill lights, keeping the entire scene bright and crisp without distracting shadows, which accentuated the textures of the model and swimwear. The glossy surface of the clear swim ring tended to flare under studio strobes, so we constantly adjusted its angle to achieve the most crystalline, translucent light refraction.

For posing direction, wanting to avoid a cookie-cutter approach, I incorporated lively, dynamic body language—such as standing on one leg with the other lifted in a dance-like posture, resting a hand on the hip or gripping the swim ring, as well as crossing my arms with a subtle shoulder curl while glancing back over my shoulder. Posing on a single foot was quite a workout for core stability; to nail the most effortless, animated frame, I repeated the takes multiple times. How the prop was held also mattered greatly: sometimes looped around the waist, sometimes carried casually in one hand, shifting my center of gravity to strike an ideal balance between her cool, aloof Anime cosplay persona and the carefree lightness of summer.

Shooting barefoot on the cyclorama floor allowed me to feel grounded, naturally relaxing my posture and letting movements flow more freely. Wrapping up this set gave me a deeper grasp of lighting balance and expressive posing, capturing the essence of that sun-drenched summer afternoon.
