Today, I'm bringing you Crown from GODDESS OF VICTORY: NIKKE. I woke up late and headed out without applying sunscreen; shooting under the blazing sun made me feel like my skin tanned a whole shade darker, but to get great photos, this little price is totally worth it.

This set of photos was shot around the ancient architectural corridor and stone steps, where natural light was the biggest plus factor. The afternoon slanted sun pierced through the gaps in the wooden boards, casting a profound contrast of light and shadow on the bluestone steps and wooden veranda. When the angle of light is found just right, the collar of the white cheongsam and the silken shawl present a wonderful sense of layering instead of looking overly flat. The modified Chinese-style cheongsam design features black-and-white color-blocking, paired with the golden decorative details at the waist, making the visual focus very distinct in front of the lens.

For the hair, I chose this light golden long curly wig, specially adding subtle curls and winding styling on both sides. Paired with the small horns on top of the head, it basically fits the character setting and traits of Crown in the game. The decorative folding fan in my hand was originally intended as a prop to echo the theme, but during the shoot, I found it not only serves as a pivot for hand movements while sitting, but its slight swaying while walking also brings a sense of fluidity to the frames.

Actually, doing outdoor photography with garments made of lightweight textile fabrics poses a challenge: the direction of the wind is uncontrollable. Capturing the exact moment when the skirt hem and black floating yarn flutter in the wind heavily tests the shutter timing, but it is precisely this randomized dynamic movement that gives the finished photos a bit of vitality. The on-site wooden structure architecture provides a strong sense of depth. I placed myself in the corridor, relying on light and shadow to segment the visual space. Compared to studio shoots, this Chinese-style cosplay theme under natural light indeed possesses more charm. From makeup and styling to the environmental atmosphere, the entire plan for this cheongsam photoshoot was executed quite smoothly, though the lesson about sunscreen was rather profound.
