This Kazami Yuuka photo set has finally met everyone. I've always loved the concept of the Tyrant of the Flower Field, so when the planner proposed shooting in a Sea of sunflowers, I agreed almost without hesitation. Kazami Yuuka is a character with extremely distinct traits: short, slightly wavy green hair, red eyes, and a temperament that carries a sense of oppression yet remains elegant and composed. To stay close to the character, a lot of thought went into styling and makeup; the wig trimming and styling went through several versions to achieve both naturalness and a fluffy texture, and the red contact lenses were specifically chosen with high color saturation. The red plaid vest and skirt form the core of this costume, paired with a white bell-sleeve blouse, forming a strong visual contrast with the golden yellow of the sunflowers in terms of color. The costume's material has a fantastic texture under sunlight, with the red and black plaid being very crisp, and the white chiffon bell sleeves fluttering gracefully in the gentle breeze.
The weather on the shooting day was exceptionally clear, with sunlight piercing through the sunflower flower disks and casting onto my body, creating a stunning light-and-shadow effect. However, this also brought challenges; the sunflowers grew quite tall, so we could only search for paths or slightly open gaps, utilizing the foreground sunflowers as a blurred cover to build the layering of walking through the sea of flowers. The Sea of sunflowers was massive, and we found a path with a wonderful sense of extension as the main scene. Holding that white Parasol in hand was not just a prop; under the scorching sun, it practically became a lifesaver. To give the skirt hem and sleeves better performance, I tried spinning and turning actions a few times, and thankfully the wind on that day cooperated nicely. The photographer captured many dynamic moments, and we continuously adjusted camera positions—sometimes shooting from a high angle with large fields of sunflower farms as the background, and sometimes shooting flatly to align the subject's and flowers' lines of sight, hoping to showcase the best possible composition.
Wig maintenance was also a key focus this time. The reflection of the light green hair under the sunlight was very intense; to make the hair strands look smoother and glossier, I pre-treated it with care and continuously brushed it during shoot breaks to prevent it from getting tangled by flower leaves and stems. Although walking outdoors wearing a wig was stuffy and hot, persevering was essential for the sake of the final result. To showcase the character's aura, I incorporated some eye expression shifts into the pose design, such as slightly lifting my gaze from beneath the parasol or turning back to glance, attempting to convey that dangerous yet captivating vibe. For a photo featuring a single hand gently stroking a sunflower, I wanted to transmit an unspoken, subtle bond with the plants through fingertip movements and slightly drooping eye corners. Another frame facing the lens head-on focused heavily on displaying her unhurried composure.
Shooting in the flower field actually tested physical stamina immensely; the high temperature combined with heavy clothing made me sweat in no time, and makeup required frequent touch-ups. But seeing the raw photos taken by the photographer made all the hard work feel totally worth it. The hair edges under backlight shimmered with a golden glow, paired with the vitality of the sunflowers, instantly bursting forth with that intense summer atmospheric vibe. For the final set of close-up pictures, we deliberately utilized the lens's large aperture to let the foreground flowers form dreamy bokeh, concentrating the visual focus onto the subject herself. This collaboration was extremely pleasant, and post-production color grading placed heavy emphasis on highlighting warm tones and the vibrancy of red, restoring the elegant figure strolling through the sea of flowers that I envisioned in my heart.
