On-site shooting for Day 1 of the Firefly ACG Expo! This Seiga Kaku cosplay look took quite a while to prepare and finalize. Regarding the costume's palette, the layered teal and white textures were chosen to complement her naturally ethereal, agile demeanor blending into Chinese-style fantasy aesthetics. From shoulder tie straps to the wavy hemline cut, every element aimed to convey dynamic fluid motion even in still photography.

Under the chaotic ambient light typical of a Guangzhou Anime Convention venue, capturing a crisp, translucent look really tests a photographer's lens control. Personally, I particularly loved the talisman strap design around my legs—the visual contrast between the red cords and white paper talismans was striking. Combined with going barefoot throughout the shoot, although the venue floor was rather cold, braving it to deliver the most authentic visual presentation made every moment worthwhile.

As for the Blue wig, the twin looped hair buns atop the head are super distinctive. To prevent them from getting bumped or deformed in the crowded convention hall, I used strong-hold styling products and bobby pins during styling. Paired with straight forehead bangs and wavy side curls, the overall shape remained rock-solid throughout a full day of activity. For makeup, the focus centered on defining eyeliner and rich lip color to create a subtle warm-cool contrast with the Blue wig, striving to project vibrant energy before the camera.

In terms of camera angles and posing, I attempted dramatic flowing skirt movements and seated poses with my magical staff prop, hoping to communicate the airy beauty of Xianxia style cosplay even in frozen frames. The seated shots in particular beautifully showcased the skirt layers and barefoot details, while the staff's leading lines added compositional extension.

During the shoot, an impressive lighting setup from surrounding photographers gathered nearby. My past experience shooting across indoor and outdoor venues taught me that while indoor convention light isn't as gentle as natural sunlight, making smart use of overhead lights and frontal fill lighting accentuates the layered sheer chiffon textures of the outfit. Standing barefoot on the chilly gray exhibition hall floor was tough, but seeing the calm, mysterious ambiance captured in the final photos made it completely worth it.

The prop is a custom-made staff paired with blue-and-white beaded strings and golden metallic trim, offering just the right weight in hand. Though the talisman props looked simple, being tied to my legs actually impacted my range of motion. Thus, while posing for reclining or seated shots, I had to pay extra attention to maintaining core balance and leg placement—both to flatter body contours and to ensure the paper talismans didn't bend or get obscured.

My Day 1 experience at the Firefly ACG Expo was unforgettable. Presenting this character to the venue audience in my own style felt truly special. The outfit blended lightweight chiffon and silk weaves, making movement feel airy with the skirt flaring out naturally while walking. Navigating through booths and aisles with wide sleeves and flowing ribbons drew many passersby to stop for photos, and everyone's enthusiastic feedback was incredibly encouraging.

Facing the lens, I preferred seeking a composed, relaxed state. Even in static photography, I wanted to convey the character's genuine soul. I did plenty of homework on posing before the shoot, ensuring every frontal view, profile, and body gesture was carefully designed and considered rather than stiff.

These convention photos not only record the look, but freeze precious moments from the expo's opening day. From early morning makeup prep to packing up at dusk, though the process was exhausting, seeing these delicate light and shadow treatments in the final shots made all the hard work worthwhile. I hope to keep refining details for this Xianxia style cosplay look in the future and bring even more satisfying creations!
