The Genshin Impact and KFC collaboration provided a fitting framework for this shoot. Cosplaying Lynette this time, I focused mainly on recreating the costume's fabric textures: the pleated leather skirt paired with the red, black, and white argyle diamond pattern, along with the ruffled cuffs, effectively brought out the character's sculptural silhouette. The wig was blonde, and the green dip-dye at the tips required patient handling; the cat ears and red-and-white striped hat used in the look also had to be secured with styling products. For makeup, I chose purple colored contacts, and the star sticker on the cheek was the finishing touch. The shoot took place in an actual KFC store, utilizing the reflections of the glass display windows and the texture of the solid wood background wall to enhance the storytelling of the photos. Props included a giant cat-head balloon and a bottle of sour plum drink; to harmonize with the balloon's shape, the scale of each motion was deliberately choreographed. My favorite shot is the one standing on one leg in the mall corridor holding the balloon. Maintaining balance beautifully showcased the leg lines, and pairing it with Black stockings and black mid-calf boots worked wonderfully to elongate the silhouette of my legs. The standee nearby provided a posing reference, and switching positions with the standee made the shot much more playful. I rarely shot in such a slice-of-life, realistic environment before. Utilizing the existing light and shadow to capture candid moments between other diners' meals was actually more challenging than studio shoots—focusing on props in dynamic conditions was tricky, and we had to be mindful not to block passersby. However, this effortless naturalness is something studio shoots cannot replicate. In this Cosplay photography shoot, we faithfully captured costume design details and hair/makeup traits, while post-processing focused on keeping everything clean and natural without distorting facial proportions, preserving authentic recognizability. It was a delightful experiment that showcased the character's signature charm and lively side. I look forward to attempting more real-world scene shoots in the future while staying true to my passion for the characters.
