This pink-and-white dress styling at the Firefly ACG Expo took a lot of thought from makeup test to on-site shooting. Everyone usually looks at event photos and might think it's fine just by putting on the clothes and wearing the wig well, but actually, if you want to get good photos in complex lighting and crowds like at a comic convention, the preliminary preparation work is extremely crucial, and there are many tricks to it.
First, let's talk about the wig; this pink wig was actually re-trimmed. The original bangs were slightly thick and heavy; to better fit my own face shape, I thinned them out a bit, and re-trimmed layers into the sideburns, so that whether taking selfies or being photographed by others, it won't look rigid from any angle. The lace veil and heart-shaped accessory on top of the head are the highlights of this styling; wearing them requires using many invisible hairpins to fix them, otherwise they easily fall off while walking around the convention. This is a small tip: everyone must prepare a few extra bobby pins when preparing props.
In terms of makeup, I chose a 2D anime-style doll-like look. The base makeup had thorough concealer applied, creating that flawless porcelain skin feel. The focus is on the eye makeup: violet circle lenses paired with pink eyeshadow, with the eyeliner slightly elongated and blended downwards to increase innocence. To echo the hair color, light pink was also used for the eyebrows. The blush on the cheeks was applied rather prominently, which, paired with the deer-like eye makeup, perfectly matches the 'little reindeer' vibe mentioned in my post this time.
This outfit has many details; although the off-the-shoulder style looks good, it also easily exposes body shortcomings, so when taking photos, I pay attention to shoulder posture, slightly shrugging or coordinating with hand movements to refine the lines, trying my best to showcase a nice collarbone. The red bows and lace sleevelets on both sides are very layered, but wearing them at the convention in summer is indeed a bit hot; attention must be paid to wrinkle prevention for the clothing material, and I kept carefully managing the skirt's pleats.
There are particularly many people at the Firefly ACG Expo site, and the lighting is relatively cluttered. To make selfies look good, I held up my phone the whole time to look for light sources. To capture that translucent feel, front lighting or rim lighting is best. When holding the phone for selfies, hand movements shouldn't be stiff either; you can touch your cheeks, adjust your necklace, or make eye contact with the camera, making the resulting photos more vivid. If using the front camera, hold the phone slightly higher, around a 45-degree angle, to make the face look smaller. If encountering passersby or photographers shooting, just try to maintain a natural standing posture, gaze at the camera or slightly lower, keep the back straight, and the poise will look much better.
The overall styling leans towards a sweet and cute style, and the pink-and-white color scheme is very eye-catching at the site. When taking selfies, I intentionally magnified the upper body details, capturing the lace, bows, and gemstone decorations all in. Going to a comic convention is truly physical labor, but being able to leave behind so many nice photos makes it feel totally worth it.
